Continuing with my reviews on Makeup Geek eyeshadows, today, I am reviewing the shade “Homecoming.” You can see the preview post and swatches of all shades here.
Whether you’re getting ready for the dance, the big game, or a fun night on the town, this day-to-night color will help you look the part. A cool-toned, earthy buckskin color, this velvety shadow makes for a gorgeous wash all over the eye. The gold-flecked shimmer is subtle enough for the bleachers, but still twinkles under the lights at the big dance. It goes with everything—including a sweet tiara. These are all highly-pigmented – just check out the swatches! – Half the price of high-end shadows without sacrificing quality. These pans can be placed in empty palettes such as Z-Palettes. Eyeshadow pan weight is 1.8G / 0.064 oz – With a separate palette, you can build your own custom palettes – All our shadows are cruelty-free — we do not test our products on animals – These eyeshadows are Talc and Paraben-Free.
$6 each for regular and the duo chrome eyeshadows, not the foiled ones.
My Experience with Makeup Geek Homecoming Eyeshadow:
Packaging: This eyeshadow comes in a which you have to pop into a magnetic palette. I do like the flexibility this provides for customizing a palette based on your needs but this also means you have to shell out extra to buy the Z palette on top of buying the eyeshadow.
Shade: “Homecoming” is described as a medium brown shade with gold shimmer. To me, it seems like a perfect taupe-y bronze-y brown with a smooth metallic finish. This is the kind of shade we all know and love and cannot go wrong with. I don’t find any chunky loose individual shimmers in this shade and the metallic finish is not too overbearing either, which makes it even good for daytime wear and not something you hold around for those special wedding parties. It’s a perfect as an all-over lid shade and reminds me of something you may find in famous neutral palettes like Urban Decay Naked.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation of this shade is very good. It yields opaque coverage 1-2 layers.
Texture and Blendability: The texture of this eyeshadow is very smooth and soft. It is easy to apply, build and blend without it sheering out.
Staying Power: Staying power is great. I did not see any fading or creasing for over 8 hours with an eye primer under.
Overall, I am definitely enjoying using these Makeup Geek eyeshadows. Most of the shades I own from this line have been consistent in quality and I have not had many duds. I have used many eyeshadows from across all brands and I can honestly say that these Makeup Geek shadows definitely have that high end feel in terms of its ease of use and smooth texture. And I feel you just cannot beat this high quality for this price. I highly recommend this eyeshadow.
In EOTD I have used “Homecoming” all over the lid blended with “Cupcake” in the crease.
