My Experience with Makeup Geek Mai Tai Eyeshadow:

Packaging:  These eyeshadows come in pan which you have to pop in a magnetic palette. I do like the flexibility this provides for customizing a palette based on your needs but this also means you have to shell out extra to buy the Z palette on top of buying the eyeshadow.

Pigmentation/Shade/Finish:  Mai Tai is described as an apricot base with orchid reflects. This shade is a duochrome, which means it looks different under different angles of light and its true beauty is hard to catch on camera. On some angles, it has more of a pink shift, while in others, it has more of an orange-coral shift. The base is a light coral pink. This shade is very pretty and gives a romantic vibe, but my problem with it lies with its pigmentation. It gives off semi opaque coverage in one layer which is more due to the light nature of the color than the lack of pigmentation and I feel like I need at least 2-3 layers to make the color shine and it performed better over a tacky primer.

Texture and Blendability:  This shade has a smooth, soft, easy-to-work with texture. It packed nicely on the lid with a flat eyeshadow brush without causing fallout and did not feel gritty to touch. The shimmers are extremely finely milled.

Staying Power:  This shade has a good staying power and wore 7-8 layers on me without creasing.

Overall, I am thoroughly enjoying using these Makeup Geek eyeshadows and while this shade is still good, it is not amazing. I dug out a similar shade to this from my collection – Urban Decay Fireball, which is just a touch more red than Mai Tai, but still, I call them dupes and I find the UD one better in terms of pigmentation, but if you are on a budget, the MUG version is still good.

In the EOTD, I have “Mai Tai” on the lid with “Frappe” in the crease and “Bitten” in the outer V (all from Makeup Geek).
