Today I am going to review another one of the editions from the ‘I Heart Revolution Surprise Egg’ series. I picked up the Mermaid edition; the Rose Gold and Gold eggs have already been reviewed by Esha and Oindrila earlier. Revolution Beauty is the mother brand of I Heart Revolution and this sub-brand has cute collectible makeup. These eggs are truly a delight – 5 eyeshadows and 2 highlighters for the price of £5. So, let’s see how the ‘Mermaid’ egg fared out.

My Experience with Makeup Revolution I Heart Revolution Surprise Mermaid:
The packaging and the design of the product is one of the reasons I got this egg. The eyeshadows and highlighters are enclosed in this gleaming blue egg. Overall, the packaging is very cute and travel-friendly. A thin plastic film separates the highlighter shades from the eyeshadows and this is important, because some of the eyeshadow shades tend to fall-out and mix with the highlighter shades.
The eyeshadow shades in this egg are a mix of greens and blues. One of them is a shimmery shade (gold), another one is matte (light teal) and the remaining 3 (darker shade of teal and blues) have a touch of shimmer in them but the finish is matte. I love the gold eyeshadow, it’s the perfect shade to put on the lid and give a little pop of glitter.
All the eyeshadow shades are very pigmented but they tend to clump together sometimes, especially the gold shade. It clumps up and then it becomes difficult to dust off the excess from the brush. This egg has one of the most pigmented blue eyeshadows I own and it has a beautiful matte finish. The two shades which are more on the teal side are excellent as transition colours.
There are two highlighters – one has a gold undertone to it and the other one has a blue undertone to it. Both of them are perfect for the inner eye corner and to highlight the brow arch. Again, these highlighters tend to clump up sometimes. I wouldn’t recommend these highlighters for the face as they also settle into the lines and accentuate the pores. They are perfect for creating shimmery eyeshadow looks.
Overall, I love the product for its packaging and selection of colours to create beautiful mermaid looks. The shades have a fall-out problem but their pigmentation makes up for it. With a primer, these eyeshadows have a great staying power of up to 8 hours. They are easy to remove as well with micellar water. Their application is very smooth, and thanks to the selection of colours, they blend very nicely and have the potential to create gradient eye makeup looks. Here’s a look I created with this egg:
