My Experience with Makeup Revolution London Don’t Bring Me Down Ultra Velour Lip Cream:

Packaging: The lip cream comes in a nice rose gold cardboard pack, with a small open portion on it, which makes it convenient to see the color from outside. The product comes in the classic, transparent, a little broad and short plastic gloss tube. The brand details are printed in rose gold fonts on the tube. There is also a tiny sticker with the shade name on the tube. It has a black cap to which the applicator wand is attached. The applicator is the standard doe foot one, which helps the color apply easily and precisely on lips.

Shade: Don’t Bring Me Down is nice matte rosy pink color with some reddish undertone to it. Basically, it’s a warm toned pink that’s not too bright or gaudy. It’s a very beautiful shade and will suit every skin tone. The shade is perfect to wear on everyday basis.

Texture, Pigmentation and Finish: The lip cream is very smooth and thick. It has that soft velvety and creamy feel to it. It glides like butter on lips. The lip cream has a whipped cream or mousse-ey kind of consistency. On application, it melts on lips and feels like a gloss for an hour, and after that, the glossy sheen starts fading away. The lip cream doesn’t completely set into matte finish, so it’s not transfer proof. This cream has a sort of that semi opaque kind of gloss finish. Which is not too glossy, but not very matte either.

The lip cream exaggerates dry and flaky lips, and also settles down on the lip lines. Dry and flaky lips hinder the even application of the lip cream, so one will need to scrub and moisturize lips beforehand in order to apply the color evenly. The good thing is that, though the lip cream melts on lips it doesn’t bleeds out form the natural lip line. The formula of the lip cream is hydrating enough for normal lips, but I would say it’s not super moisturizing or creamy. Especially one who has extremely dry lips may not find these really comfortable.

Moreover it doesn’t dry out lips, so normal lips can definitely skip using a lip balm underneath. The lip crème is on the sheer side in terms of pigmentation. I mean though it’s pigmented, it’s not as pigmented as some thick matte lip crèmes are. It requires atleast 2- 3 coats of it, for an even finish and better coverage. This lip cream isn’t very suitable for intensely pigmented lips as they’ll need to apply the color carefully in order to get a proper coverage.

Staying Power: As the lip cream don’t set to a complete matte finish, it doesn’t stay put for very long on lips. It lasted on me for 2-3 hours, without eating anything. After eating, most of the cream get easily wiped away and transfers into cutleries, so one has to reapply it after meals. The best thing is that it doesn’t turn very patchy and fades quite evenly if you apply the color in proper way.

IMBB Rating:
4.1/5

Points deducted for not being what the name says. It says matte lip cream, but it’s surely not very pigmented and matte like such.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Makeup Revolution London Don’t Bring Me Down Ultra Velour Lip Cream?
I would recommend this lip cream if you’re looking for a comfortable semi matte formula and don’t mind reapplying it. But, let me tell you that if you’re expecting this lip cream to be super matte and very pigmented, than this is absolutely not for you. It’s more like a semi opaque, less glossy and lightweight lip gloss. This range has very bright and beautiful array of shades, so I won’t mind picking more 2 or 3 of these lip creams.
