The gloss comes in a rose gold colored outer cardboard packaging with a long window made to see the color inside. The lacquer comes in a see-through gloss tube with a black cap to which the doe-foot applicator is attached. The large fonts of the brand name on the gloss tube really add to the chic packaging. The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.

My Take on Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in You Took My Love:

Shade: You took my Love is a vivid, matte, neonish, fuchsia, pink color. The color is extremely bold, an all out neon deep pink shade and hence will not suit many skin tones. This can make every complexion look washed out. Well, the color however looks nice on my fair to medium skin tone and doesn’t make me look that terrible. If you’re very fair or have cooler skin tone, this would appear less neon-ish on you. The shade is perfect for night time, so it’s definitely an evening party color. I’ll suggest all our Indian beauties to keep their hands away from this shade unless you’re a party maniac.

Texture, Formula and Finish: The texture of the lip lacquer is very creamy, thick and smooth; it glides effortlessly on my lips, with the applicator. After applying the lip lacquer, it sets dry into a matte lip color on my lips, just within 5-6 mins of application. After which it won’t bleed, transfer or smudge. The lacquer is completely water-proof . The thick formula and doe-foot applicator doesn’t pick sufficient amount of the product. So, spreading the lacquer evenly on lips may be a bit tricky. It may become streaky on some areas and then again you have to layer it on. The lip lacquer does set to a powder matte finish, but feels comfortable on lips. I would say it’s not an apt product for dry lips unless you top it with a gloss or balm. Well, it doesn’t suck or rip off moisture from the lips. and also it is not super hydrating; It can feel a little drying for some. Since the formula is matte, exfoliating lips nicely is very important otherwise it’ll hamper the even application of the lacquer. Also flaky and chapped lips will be exaggerated. The lip lacquer gives a nice matte finish on lips.

Pigmentation: The lacquer is superbly pigmented and one swipe of it gives the fullest color on lips. It’s completely opaque and has the required thickness in it. It’s totally an apt lip color for intensely pigmented lips.

Staying Power: The lip lacquer is very long lasting and the best part is that it won’t turn flaky (unless your lips are extremely dry). It survives heavy meals, it doesn’t fade when it comes in contact with water neither does it transfer. It gives me the wear time of 8+ hous, after that, I noticed it was fading from the inner portions of my lips. But the color doesn’t fade away completely, it was still that vibrant post 8 hours of application. During this time it did not dry out my lips.

Pros of Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in You Took My Love:

• I would say the color is nice, but it would have been prettier if it didn’t have a neon tinge to it.
• Texture is smooth, creamy and thick.
• Finish is totally matte, matte lip lovers would lose their hearts over it.
• I didn’t find the lacquer very drying on my lips; I was comfortable wearing it throughout.
• Once the lacquer sets, it won’t transfer, bleed or smudge.
• Pigmentation is superb, completely opaque and thick in just 1 swipe.
• Staying power is very long lasting for 8+ hours.
• The color wouldn’t flake or fade easily. It’ll appear that vibrant after hours of application.
• Packaging is quite good.
• Very affordable, I mean a lip lacquer for just Rs.350.

Cons of Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in You Took My Love:

• The thick consistency of the lacquer and applicator doesn’t pick sufficient amount of product. So, even application in one go may be a bit tricky.
• The matte formula, you’ll need to exfoliate lips very well.
• The shade will not suit many skin tones, so I’ll suggest not picking this shade unless, you have the confidence to wear such bold, vivid shades.

Would I repurchase/recommend Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in You Took My Love?

Skip this shade but, definitely go for the lacquers. They really deserve a try, the best part of these that they don’t rip off moisture from your lips and is very long lasting. I have already ordered more shades of this.
