Makeup Shopping in Singapore and Bangkok

Hi Everyone, 🙂

Hope you guys have been good. A few of you know that I went to Singapore for shopping holiday. It’s such a crazy shopping destination that you’ll never be satisfied of your shopping and you’d always want to buy more and more. But thankfully I went with my hubby who kept reminding me about our finances. :rotfl: So I did a decent shopping.

Tourists get a tax refund at the airport so I re-used that money to buy more stuff  at duty free shops and in air plane. All in all excellent trip, every last penny spent, need to work harder to earn some money now. 😛

Anyway, here is the haul- Makeup forever, Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemura, Sephora, Amazing Cosmetics, Dior, Burt Bee’s, Nars and Benefit. There was Urban Decay also but I already have 24/7 pencils (gift from a lovely friend) . I just didn’t like the ey shadow palettes and regarding Urban Decay Primer Potion, I think My MAC Paint Pot does a fab job so I didn’t find it reasonable to purchase the primer potion.  But I really loved how invisible it gets one you apply it.

Benefit Sugar Bomb: I had an option to choose either Coralista or Sugar Bomb. On application both looked quite similar, just that Coralista was more Coral than Sugar bomb. And by now I already have quite a few coral check colours so I picked up Sugar Bomb. It’s quite sheer and buildable.

Purchased at : Sephora, ION Orchard Road, Singapore

I loved the pretty triangles. Geeeeeee…

Dior Addict High Colour Lipstick Charmed Pink : Actually I was picking up a lipstick from benefit but Sephora was out of stock of that shade so I picked up the exact shade from the Dior Lipstick. Honestly I just picked this lipstick simply because hubby loved it so much on me. 🙂

Purchased at : Sephora, ION Orchard Road, Singapore

Dior Addict Lipstick Rose Iveresse
Dior Addict Lipstick Rose Everesse

Charmed Pink is a bright pink colour. Goes on sheer and the shade is bright pink colour with a hint of coral in it.

Shu Umeura Lash Curler: Need I say anything here? 😉

Purchased at : Shu Umeura Store, ION Orchard Road, Singapore

Makeup Forever HD Blush # 6:

It’s a bright orange-coral colour. You just need a teeny weeny bit to get a nice flush on your cheeks.

Makeup Forever Aqua Cream: No 5 and No 15:

No 5 is a mid tone brown colour with silvery sheen to it.

No 15 is a peachy pink colour with golden sheen to it.

Bobbi Brown Pastel Eye Shadow Palette :

It’s a 7 colour pastel palette : Ivory, Baby Pink, Champagne Quartz, Platinum, Paced Blue, Rockstar and Mahogany.

I purchased it in airplane. They give you a shopping guide and you may buy stuff there and then. The only drawback is that you don’t get to see the real product. Price wise it’s the same. I didn’t see this palette anywhere in shops so I think it’s travel exclusive.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Palette : I never purchsaed Colorbar or The Body Shop Shimmer bricks because I always wanted on from Bobbi Brown. There were there options available in this- Bronze, Nectar (coral) and Ros (Pink. I thought I’d be able to us the Bronze on the most.

Purchased at : Sephora, ION Orchard Road, Singapore

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge  for Lips and Cheeks : Cabo Coral

It’s a cream blush + lipstick. I didn’t buy it initially and kept it as a last purchase if I’d be left with any money at the end of the trip. Bobbi Brown in general is painfully expensive so I wanted to keep Bobbi Brown’s stuff on hold. I bought it from my tax refund money at the airport.

Bobbi Brown Long Lasting Gel Liner – Cavier Ink : It’s a blackish brown colour gel liner. Again purchased it at the airport with the tax refund money.

Nars Orgasm Blush : I didn’t find Nars anywhere in Singapore, not even at the airport. We had a two and a half hour transit at the Bangkok airport so while roaming around we discovered the Nars outlet. I didn’t want anything else other than the Orgasm blush. 😛 It’s a peachy pink colour with a golden sheen to it.

I got a $40 voucher free at Sephora, Singapore so I purchased the Amazing Concealer. it is considered as one of the best concealer in the world. There were 7 shades available in this. I bought it in the shade Dark Tan.

  1. Hey Rati……….what a great haul………….are there some more leafs remaining in your cheque book 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 😛 . Only “electric shaver” for Eno kumar???????

    1. Yeah, he wasn’t buying that even so I was feeling super guilty. Forced him to buy it. 😛

No cheque leaves left. Have got strict instructions on no shopping months. :silly:

  2. Seems like you broke the bank, Rati! Enjoy your products! And hey, I’m curious about the Mac Book, since I’m in the market for one. Which one is it & what were the damages?

    1. Damages? didn’t get you? It costed me around Rs 8000-10000 less in Singapore than India. That’s the reason i purchased it. i bought the regular MAC book because I wanted it for basic purposes only.

        1. Emjay I also purchased the windows MAC option so it costed me around Rs 62,000 If I would have purchased it from India, it would have costed me around 70,000.

  3. hi rati….
i got confused whether to scream …wow..what a great haul or to go green with jealousy again….. 😀 but all in all evry penny well spent….now eager to see swatches of all the products…..and few more recommendations….now i knw what to save ur money for wen u go abroad…. 😛

    1. Shilpa,

I will def write about the saving money thing when you go abroad. i wouldn’t have been able to purchase so much had we not planned the trip properly. Saved a lot of money that ways. Except the MAC book we didn’t use a credit card even once and finished our trip in the money that we took with us. 🙂

    1. Actually haven’t used too many lash curlers but this one is def better than my 20 rs wala lash curler. loll!!

It curls my lashes perfectly. The best thing is that it fits in my lid so properly as if it’s tailor made for my eyes only so that gives a great control and gives a perfect curl to my lashes. Actually both MAC and Inglot lash curlers are also good, I just had to have Shu Uemura one. 🙂

      1. hi rati…
i knw its a little stupid but wen ever i use lash curler it gives my lashes a 90 degree bend rather than giving my lashes a soft curl in entirety…..u guessed right i did purchsed that cheap vega eyelash curler to get some practice before investing in a high end curler…..i guess i am using my curler wrong way…can u do a post fr a lash curler along with some brand recommendations …..

        1. Actually Shilpa, it’s the lash curler that makes a difference. I also purchased the cheaper one for practising but now I realize that it used to curl my lashes exactly the way you mentioned -90 degree. Over the period of time I made it work for myself but I think a good lash curler does make a difference. Even body shop has lash curler in the range of 200 or something. You may get that, it works pretty well. 🙂

  4. Hey Welcome backkkkk…. 😀 😀 😀

Hope you enjoyed it a lot…. Waiting for the personal review I requested.. 😉 😉 😉

  5. Only one word…AWESOME….I am sure you will love NARS orgasm…its an absolute darling….btw could you do lip swatch for the Dior lipcolor…I am really looking for a nice pink lippie.
Also how does Sugarbomb compare to NARS orgasm ? I have NARS, so I am thinking whether I can pass on Sugarbomb ????
    .-= Maddy´s last blog ..Thank You !!! =-.

    1. I’ll do the swatches in a day or two , Maddy. Just a little jet lagged . 🙂

Nars Orgasm has a very high golden sheen to it. Nars is more pigmented than Sugarbomb. Colorwise they look quite similar. Can’t actually say if you can pass it . 🙂

  12. wonderful haul Rati, I luv the pics on nars orgasm blush, soo cute :cute: . i am waiting for your review already and the amazing concealer looks really amazing 😉

          1. 🙁 is one day when my car-wale hubbyji is free to drive me around the city…so decided to go to the bank. Didnt realize its half day today .. so finally just did veggie shopping and came 🙁

                1. oh crap!! I came back here and suddenly I could feel my skin going worse. 😛 God!! you have to see the skin of girls there. Was feeling J how much greenery and no pollution they have in Singapore. :alien:

  13. Awwwwwwwwwwww, Rati, so that’s where you went travelling!! So lucky. I LOVE everything, esp. the Make Up Forever liquid blush, it looks amazing. What is ION in Singapore? Is it a mall, and do you get all the make up brands there?

    1. Sabrina, yup Ion is a huge mall in Singapore. you get most brands there. Also there are 2-3 malls around Ion and you’ll get most stuff there.

  14. Massive Haul 🙂 🙂 🙂 …I did a major haul of stuff not available in India, when I went to Malaysia a couple of years back….The Kuala Lumpur airport stocks great stuff too! Now, wanna see the MUFE blush on you 🙂 Let me know how you find the amazing cosmetics concealer 🙂 I have been lemming for it for quite sometime 😉

  15. Yup I know….its too good. And I know some people find the place boring kind in a way, but I could happily live there all my life. I love that kind of a boring clean place 😀 😀

  16. If you work and live there its good na…or so I always felt…keep telling hubby we should shift there 😀 Wonder why my hubby says I nag ?:-) ?:-) ?:-)

    1. Hmm… I doubt that an Indian can enjoy living in Singapore for long. The place, which feels like a concrete-jungle, is so tightly controlled that it has an Orwellian feel of the novel 1984. Rati and I rarely saw anyone laugh out loud. People are too soft-spoken, too-timid and devoid of passion. Although, to be honest, this my impression of only three days and I can be wrong.

It is a beautiful city by all means but one that I would like to visit again and again but not prefer to stay in.

  17. Hey Rati!
Welcome back! I was wondering why there hadn’t been a post from you in a while, and you definitely came back with a big bang. Just looking at these beauties is such a treat, I can’t even imagine how fab it must be to own them 😛
Seems like you had a fun time…thanks for sharing it with us!

  18. Hello there,

First i would like to congratulate on the wonderful blog and above all its writers. You girls surely Rock!! though i was not a make up aficionado I just became one and so immensely love to read this blog, that i found by accident wandering on the net and can not stop reading, just addicting…

I am a non-indian (as i consider myself a local not a foreigner 🙂 living in this wonderful country for nearly 5 years, now in Bangalore mostly, also married to a handsome ‘pakka marwari’ that made me more Desi than i would ever have imagined 😀

What I am trying to say here is that the review of easily available, well known in the national market and even national brands of on drugstore products, that communicates to our reality (money wise speaking :D) is just something that swept me away and i am not easily impressed 😛

As the first post i read was Rathi’s and how she fell in love with make up i thought i would give her my first comment ever 🙂

I loooooooooooved so much your singaporean haul Rathi, that it made my eyes shine *.* Please review them soon we are all very anxious 😀

    1. Hi Deborah,

welcome to IMBB. 🙂 Glad you are finding the place useful. I am not surpized that your hubby has turned you more desi than you would have imagined. Marwaris are very close knit community so they are good at moulding people their way. lol!! Had very close marwari friends during college days.Miss all the bhujias, suparis and churnas now. 🙂

DO stay around. Will do the reviews soon. 🙂

  19. Hey Rati. Happy to see you back here. Just had a nap after my baby showers today and thought should chk out the blog before I sleep again 🙂 Great Haul and good that you enjoyed your trip.:) Also happy that you like the lip balm 🙂
    How to treat dry skin

  20. Wow! Thats an awesome haul!!! Way to go girl! Heyy but what about some other stuff that you bought? did you buy anything alse apart from make up stuff at all?! hehe… i know this is a make up blog but wud loooove to see what else you shopped for… 🙂

    1. Actually no. Just bought some books, macbook and an electric shave apart from makeup. 😛 Really didn’t want to buy anything else. May be on my next trip. loll!!

    2. WoW! You really are a true Make-up lover!!! I cannot resist buying clothes n shoes when i visit SGP!!! Esp the charles n keith there have such awesome stuff… n great discounts too.. hey n you shud hv stayed back in bangkok a coupla days n done some shopping there too! But then again… maybe you can even make another trip to bangkok again! 😛
In fact you know what, you shud make it a girls trip… trust me its sooooo much fun.. once me n my gal pals had gone together n its awesome… shopping by the day.. dancing n partying n flirting by the night… 😉 😛 :chic:

      1. he he.. we have charles and keith here so I didn’t buy anything. we do have a lot of brands here in delhi so my main “target ” was makeup. 😛 i went crazy there.loll!!

  21. Totally AWESOME haul as I had expected it to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And now I am gng to catch up on all the posts !!

  22. wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee .. Rati thats one MASSIVE haul .. I ‘m so intrigued by the product now !!
Please review Amazing concealer ..NARS Orgasm ..n do tell if its even remotely similar to Colorbar peachy rose .. I think they are quite similar .. maybe “peachy rose” lean little toward coral .. doesn’t it ?
.-= Palak´s last blog ..Make up in monsoons =-.

    1. And yeah, Nars one has more goldeny touch to it. Using it almost every day so that’s the first review coming from the haul.

Amazing concealer is fab. It’s pretty much at part with my studio finish concealer. 🙂

      1. Rati, so this was the surprise ……what a great haul!!!sorry i was late in seeing this, missed IMBB very badly for few days last week.. 🙁

            1. Onam was good Radhika and hectic too this time…my bro-in law’s wedding on Sep 12th so busy with the shopping plus busy@office…not getting time for anything 😥

                1. Yes in fact i loved being busy with shopping this time..rather than being busy with cooking for onam like past many years—-this time ordered ready made onam sadya…thank god!! 😉

    1. To be frank, Radhika, i don like sadya much except for the ada pradhaman…feeling ashamed to tell that being a malayali nair i dont like onam sadya but that is the truth…

  23. Hehehehee…me too no like the sadya…is a bit too heavy for me..and I have to finish eating it so I get the pradaman 😀 😀 Me thinking only the crazy mallus land up on IMBB.

    1. Ha ha very true!!!am happy i find similar people here…my mom used to say am a real specimen when i say i hate sadya!!Btw radhika which is your native place and where are you settled now?

  24. Tell your mom you are finding other specimens too 😀 😀 My parents are from Palakkad (mom) and Ottapalam (dad), but we have never stayed much in Kerala – always on Bharat darshan with dad. Finally settled in Bangalore 🙂
