Makeup Updates *Drum Rolls*

shoppinggirlI went to check the Body Shop Spring Collection and here are the updates:

Lip and Cheek Stain: The shimmering coral is gorgeous but it would make a best cheek highlighter and not a lip stain.Read review HERE.  If given a choice between choosing rose pink and shimmering coral, I would pick up rose pink. It is non shimmery, would give a nice-natural flush on cheeks and would even make a good lip stain.

Shimmer Cubes: Nothing great about them. Just normal shimmery colours.Found the peach colour the best. Me would NEVER pay Rs 1200 for this.

Hi Shine Lip  Treatment was nice and glossy. In fact one may give these a try. I am moving towards matte these days so they didn’t tempt me.

Kiss of Colour Cheek Blush: OMG! The golden coral was such a let down. One swipe and it was overloaded with shimmer, shimmer and more shimmer. Horribly shimmery! Vibrant Rose is matte finish cheek colour and the colour is a very light pink. It would rock on women with fair complexion bit would not look to flattering on women with wheatish complexion. The packaging was cute and the texture of the blush was very fine.

I also checked their mineral foundation but got confused with the shades available. And the SA was least helpful and least interested. 🙁 Would go during the day time and check again.

So overall the collection was not the one for me.

MAC CosmoI bought my first MAC lipstick. It is Amplified Cream Lipstick (Rs 920)and the shade Cosmo. MAC describes it as Pink coco. To me it is  peachish-taupish- pink. The texture is not completely matte but has a soft shine to it. The MUA said that it is one of the hottest selling shades this summer. Honestly, I am not surprised. If I have to suggest one lipstick that would suit most women with wheatish complexion, this would be it. Personally for me it is my MLBB lipstick. I would say this is my nude colour. 🙂 (would do the swatch and review soon) 🙂 Not sure of Viva Glam lipstick but shades looked like they would suit a lot of Indian skin tones.

Coming to similar products (IMO):

MAC Coppertone blush= Colorbar’s Just Earth

MAC Pink Swoon blush= Colorbar Cosmic Rose

MAC Peachy keen blush=Colorbar  Peachy Rose

MAC Trace Gold blush = Colorbar Trace Gold

I couldn’t pick up a single blush because I have the similar ones in my colorbar collection.

Then I wanted to try MAC’s mineral foundation. No matter how gorgeously gorgeous I found it, the price put me off. Rs 1800/- Someone please gift it to me.  :rotfl: I mean that tiny tub for freaking 1800?? You got to be kidding me, dude! I am sure there are some good ones around at much lower price.

I tried the MAC’s select moisture cover concealer . The Make Uup Artist (MUA) removed the MAC studio finish concealer that I was already wearing from both my under eye area. Then she applied the the select moisture cover concealer on one under eye and left the other one as is. Just to take an opinion, she asked the other MUA which under eye area was looking better. The  other MUA kept staring at my under eyes for at least 20 seconds and after she was completely puzzled she said, “I don’t know, they both look the same.” The MUA and I laughed because I was wearing concealer on one under eye and the other one had no concealer. Guess what?   The MUA said that I don’t need a concealer at all. In fact, I was surprised myself that my under eye skin tone and my face skin tone has become even. I am running so busy these days that I don’t get too much time to analyse myself in mirror. This was such a pleasant surprise. And who gets the credit for it? Blossom Kochhar’s Under Eye cream. Can’t thank her enough. 🙂 By the way  the concealer was nice and light. In fact, I would rate it above my MAC Studio Finish concealer.

I bought a bright red nail paint from colorbar.

Colorbar has also come up with their range of useless vanity cases. They are shimmery-sequined-square-fabric-boxes with no partitions.  Price- Rs 800 (not sure but somewhere near this range only). I wouldn’t buy them at even Rs 300. So Janpath!

All in all, the day started quite weirdly but ended on a good note. I couldn’t access the net almost the entire day so finally I decided to step out. Had a nice dinner with hubby.:)

Lost of lovely posts coming up tomorrow.

Good Night!

  1. Waiting for the MAC lippy review. I dont own any lipsticks.. though i have a lot of lipglosses. I was so tempted by the viva glam collection but then its a LE so dont know if it would be available by the time im back on my feet.. but Cosmo seems like a safe bet.

    1. I would be doing that soon. Reserving next week for my Inglot reviews. 🙂 I was so surprised to see this lipstick shade. It would suit a lot of Indian women. Btw I cheated so much with food today . 🙁

      1. Cheating.. oops..i guess it would be nothing major that substituting next meal with diet and a lil more exercise cant take care of..

  2. Didn’t make it to the Body shop today (not enough time)
And a should pay MAC a visit because I still didn’t buy
a new foundation (still using the Chanel and Cliniq
because I spent so much money on it!) plus I need a
blusher. First I used pink (from MAC but I bought it
in Thailand on the streets so it’s probably not the real stuff)
but I think a sort of earth color would suit me better..

    1. Sunanina,

Try coppertone. I think it should suit you. As it is MAC has such a huge range of colours that you may actually test and try a lot from their stopre and pick up the one you like the best. 🙂

Do let me know what you pick.

  3. 1800 rs…thats a bit too much na… :idk: and Rati please do me a favor, can you find out if Blossam Kocchar range has depigmentation cream for the face…….actually my mom has dark patches on her face, I think someone else also wanted something similar for her mom….now who was that….can you do that for me please.

    1. Jomol, yes 1800 is a bit too much. I bought their foundation that costed me Rs 1750 but I didn’t mind paying fo rit becasue it is something that couldn’t be replaced. The texture, my exact shade etc were all worth paying for the fouandation. But moneral foundation is something that is easily replacable. I am going to pick up the TBS one if I find the closest match to my skin.

Will find out about the cream today itself. 🙂

  4. hey jomol , aroma magic has something called fairy lotion that is mixed with their milk pack, that is supposed to be used for pigmentation.
Biotique has bio coconut milk, also for the same purpose, but has heard many ppl break out with use.
Has anyone tried the sunscreen range from biotique? Or ponds tinted moisturiser? A review pls

  5. Rati you’re tempting me to stop being a gloss girl and buy a lippie 😀

where can I find blossom kocchar’s under eye cream? ?:-) have you done a review on that somewhere btw?

        1. he he Check out some other lippies as well. The best part about MAC is that you may try the lipsticks on your lips. Just ask the MUA to sanitize the lippy and try it. Who knows you may come up with the perfect shade for yourself. 😎

          1. For sure 😀 This is the Select Citywalk waala MAC na? What else should I look at? I’m aiming for just simple, everyday makeup – for work., that goes beyond my regular kajal and gloss. 😛

            1. Yes it is the select city walk wala mac. 😛 They have these lovely lip tints. I was on the verge of buying coral but then resisted. I would be buying some blushes from MAC once I get bored of my colorbar ones and MAC Fix+ is another thing you may look at. Also if you have not found your HG foundation or concelaer, I guess that is the place. 🙂

  6. Wow!!! Congrats… You don’t need concealer any more… Yay..

Whenever I start dieting, I get dark circles. But this time I didn’t…. Soooo Happy..

Oh, The TBS range seems a total let down…

Gonna get the Lakme lip and cheek tint today… will tell you how it was… Good luk for the day of diet ahead..

    1. M,

It was such a pleasent surprise can’t tell you. My diet has gone gor a little toss since yesterday abut trying to be in system as much as I can. WOuld be updating all in forum today.

Good Luck to you too. 🙂

  7. I am supposed to go to TBS to renew my membership..Was thinking of taking a peek at the new range then. But now it doesn’t sound so exciting :-((

Congrats on the first MAC lippie..waiting for the review eagerrrrly :fingersxd:

and also on the “no concealer needed” part.  for BK Under Eye Cream.

    1. I was also a little disappointed. Nothing lustworthy.Thank you for the lippy and so glad for the no concealer needed under eyes. I just need to main it as is. 🙂

    1. Tanveer, I think all of us should have atleast one MAC lippy. It is such a guilty pleasure. 😛 And so many shades to choose from. 🙂

  8. Thanx Rati for the review on MAC lippie…Now all I gotta do is save up for it…Been spending too much on makeup lately 😉

      1. Been a little busy lately to come online…and the interminable power cuts are not helping either 🙄 …btw, u really are a sweetheart to enquire abt your readers :-))

  9. Body Shop makeup just don’t appeal to me..don’t know why. Good u got Cosmo, it’s a really pretty shade

    :umbrella: :bunny: hehe…cute smileys

    ♥xx♥

  10. Hey Rati, are the Body shop shampoos SLS free? If so, can you recommend one for my hair?
I live in Chennai so I end up sweating all through the day even with the air-conditioner on. My scalp has a little bit of dandruff, very few flakes. But this was because I was using a very heavy sha,poo from Schwarzkopf for my hair. I’m right now rectifying the damage with head and shoulders to get rid of the dandruff.
My scalp is a bit oily but my hair is dry and I definitely need a shampoo with SPF. If you can think of any in the Body Shop range can you give me a recommendation in general?

    1. Hi Shilpa,

      Welcome to M& B. 🙂 Read this post : https://makeupandbeauty.com/2010/02/sodium-laureth-sulphate-in-a-shampoo-yay-or-nay/

I am using the Loreal total repair 5 shampoo these dayas and following up the the Fab india protein conditioner. I am liking both of them. Infact the conditioner is excellent.

For mild shampoo, you may look at Aroma Magic’s or Kama’s or Himalaya’s range.

These are the shampoos that TBS offers : http://www.thebodyshop.in/listing.php?cat_id=8&sub_cat_id=77

However none of them says that it has SPF in it. And I don’t think they are SLS free. However I would confirm it to you within a day or two.

My suggestion would be to check out the FAB India range. They have a tea tree oil shampoo for dandruff control. Might help you.

  11. wow !! first MAC lippie !! I should also saving up 😀
n thats great , You wont need any concealer now on 🙂 , I should ask my mum to get the BK Almond cream 🙂

    1. I know, The BK cream has worked wonders for my mom and me. I so love it. Actually i quite like the fab india eyecream as well. i like the cooling and light effect it gives on my under eye area. 🙂

And yay to teh MAC lippy. I am so loving it. 🙂

  12. wow!! just read this post…Rati!!! no more dark circles..great :-)) !! how did u not notice!!! which Blossam Kocchar eye cream is this?? almond cream or the :-))
