Hello Again Ladies!
Once in a while, in our journey through the wondrous makeup jungle, we stumble upon a product, the fruits of which, forever impacts our course of makeup. I recently found a product that has been a superb discovery – the Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender.
Any product that can soak up all the shine/grease that accumulates after a few hours of heavy makeup or any product that minimises the pores significantly or any product that can set your foundation so that it doesn’t budge a millimetre and especially if one product that can do all these things would be a gift from heavens for a lot who face the same issues as me! I finally got my hands on it! I was introduced to this product by Emily Eddington. She speaks a lot of this product and after seeing it in action and watching/reading other reviews on it, I had to get it! My sweet sister gave me this product on my birthday 2 months back. I do have the best sister. 😀
I found that there has been no article on Mally Beauty on IMBB so far, so I would like to present some facts about it. It is a makeup company started by a renowned celebrity makeup Artist Mally Roncal. Her clientele includes the likes of Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Teri Hatcher, Celine Dion, Lee Ann Womack, Ashlee Simpson, Angelina Jolie, and Heidi Klum.
Following is an excerpt from Mally Beauty’s “About” Page, which will shed more light on her makeup line.
“After spending 15 years on the road with some of the biggest celebrities in the world, Mally Roncal developed and honed countless signature looks. Through years of trial and error, Mally discovered what works and what doesn’t for every face, pioneering expert application techniques that deliver instant transformation. All that was missing? The products to create the looks easily and flawlessly. That’s why Mally founded Mally Beauty, a collection that infuses Mally’s knowledge, expertise, and techniques into every formula. When the collection first debuted on QVC in March 2005, it wasn’t just a line of cosmetics; it was your own personal makeup artist in every product, thanks to Mally’s educational approach and infectious enthusiasm for beauty. The line embodied Mally’s own beauty philosophy, giving women the tools and knowledge they needed to bring out the beauty within each and every one of them. The collection sold out within 40 minutes of her first appearance on QVC, breaking records for the retailer and landing Mally Beauty in coveted stores like Henri Bendel and Fred Segal. To this day, Mally Beauty can still be found at these prestigious retailers as well as via QVC and mallybeauty.com.”
It is a high-end brand. Almost all the products are of a steep price. I have tried just this one product and I really hope to get my hands on more products from her line. I wish they were easily available. Currently, one can order them only from the website or Amazon/QVC. The product I have was ordered from Amazon.
Revolutionary water-clear finish sets, extends wear, minimizes pores, and looks flawless. Mally’s Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is the perfect finishing touch for your makeup. This remarkable technology yields an utterly sheer, featherweight product that diffuses the look of pores, minimizes fine lines, and helps protect your makeup so it lasts from morning to night. Face Defender gives you that flawless matte finish without the dry, ashy look of powder. The result is silky smooth skin and longer-lasting makeup.
How To Use:
Swirl the sponge in the Face Defender and softly pat this innovative, sheer formula all over your face. Never swipe or rub as this can move your makeup. Use the rounded corners of the sponge to get into all those hard to reach places, such as side of nose and inner corners of your eyes. Video instructions on the How-To by Mally herself can be seen in this video.
Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PCA Dimethicone, Silica.
$40 (~Rs. 2200)
I think now it comes only in this form that I have shown here. Originally, it came in a bulkier packaging and had a huge sponge. Now, it is more travel friendly. It comes in a pretty, pink, plastic case with a transparent lid. The compact also opens on the flip side, wherein the white sponge is placed and also there is a handy mirror present. The sponge is thin and soft and does its job.
The product’s texture is unlike anything else in my makeup collection. For the life of me, I can’t remember who it was exactly, but someone on YouTube had described the texture as that of the product in stick deodorants. It is very much like that. It is a smooth, wax, a solid gel, very, very smooth to touch. When you swirl the sponge in it, you can’t even see the product that is picked up, it is transparent. It even goes on transparent. It just gives a soft “baby’s bottom” kind of finish to the skin once applied. You need to be careful that you only dab the product and never rub back and forth with it, as it will displace the makeup.
You must be thinking all that is fine, but what does it actually do?! It does two things basically.
First, imagine this, you are done with your primer, foundation, and concealer and still your pores are visible. Sounds familiar? It happens to me every time, but now I can use this face defender instead of powder to set my makeup. It gives a totally matte finish and makes the pores almost invisible. It can replace the powder. Check out this image to see the difference in pores. (Ignore the change in color, that is just due to change in the lighting).
Second, after the makeup has stayed on your face for a few hours, especially if it was a heavy base makeup; as in for a party or wedding etc., and you start getting that shine, that greasy irritating look, especially on the cheeks and T-zone area. I know I do! Usually, we reach for blotting tissues or compact powder to blot/erase that shine, but this product can be used instead and delivers much more. Just swirl the sponge once in the product and just lightly pat it on the “shiney” areas and it is like magic!
It just gives the face a fresher, matte look. The best part is it eliminates that cake-iness that gets piled on due to repeated use of powder for blotting. It gives a very flawless look and again helps with the pores too. I hope the following image shows the elimination of shine.
Due to these reasons, it is hands-down one of the most unique products I have ever owned. I will definitely repurchase this even though it is pricey. It is worth it. We mostly do spend that much on our foundations, primer, powders, so why not something like this! I say it’s a must have.
