Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel in Blacquer

IMBB Sponsored Product Review

Marc Jacobs is a brand we all know and came to love. This is the first time that I have tried a beauty product from Marc Jacobs Beauty. I chose to purchase the Highliner Gel Pencil in Blacquer since I was on a hunt for a decent eyeliner. Read on to see how I liked it.

Product Description:

What it is:
A gel crayon eyeliner with a waterproof, long-wearing, color-intense payoff.

What it does:
Make a bold statement with this extreme-wear, waterproof eyeliner. Like a gel pot eyeliner encased within a crayon, this breakthrough product is exclusive to Marc Jacobs Beauty. Super-malleable, this gel crayon glides on smoothly for a flawless, precise application, then sets in place for all-day wear. A built-in sharpener makes sure the crayon always has a perfect point for an instantly sharp look on the go. Intense color payoff available in richly pigmented shades, including Blacquer, the blackest, shiniest black.

Suggested Usage:
-When using the Highliner Gel Crayon, blend quickly—product sets in 15 seconds.
-Works beautifully with Style Eye-Con shadows or Magic Marc’er to blend and smudge.
-Use N (ICE) in the corner of your eyes for an instant highlight.
-Apply BLACQUER and lightly smudge for a casual, smoky look.
-After each use, cap the eyeliner to preserve long-wearing properties.

My Experience with Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel in Blacquer

The Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel in Blacquer comes in a pencil crayon shape form in a simple thin black tube. In order to get the product you have to twist up from the bottom. It also includes a sharpener on the end of the pencil which I was totally unaware of. The sharpener is there to sharpen the tip so you can make precise lines. Sharpening the pencil point is necessary for lining the upper eyelid because otherwise it is too thick to control the thickness you want when lining your eyes. For the waterline, the thickness is just perfect.

I first tried this out in the Sephora store, I swatched it on my hand and went on with my day without removing it. Once I got home after 4 hours it was still there and bright as ever. I tried to wipe away with a tissue and my finger, and it still wouldn’t budge, that’s when I knew that this eyeliner is just what I need. A long lasting eyeliner that won’t smudge. I picked this up immediately!

When I first used this product I was truly amazed how creamy and gel like this is. It felt like I was using a gel liner from those little pots where you have to use a brush. The color is jet black, shiny but no glitter or shimmer, exactly like how I like my eyeliners to be. It glides on so smoothly, I was impressed. The formula is really creamy and smooth. It is so creamy that I thought it will smudge but in no more than a few minutes it dried and set. I lined my eyes with this creating beautiful cat like eyes, easily. Sadly, the tip becomes dull after two uses and then I have to sharpen again which is wasting a lot of product. You do get a lot of product, I twisted the crayon all the way to the top and you get almost the whole size of the pencil crayon, which is rare because usually crayon pencils have half the size of the product. I also apply this in my waterline, but unfortunately it starts fading in an hour and after 3 hours it’s almost gone, but luckily it does not ever smudge or give me “raccoon eyes”, it just disappears. I am still yet to find an eyeliner which lasts in my waterline.  Though it does not last on my waterline, it lasts me ALL day on my top line. It starts off as wet and once it dries it stays put all day. I also like creating smokey looks using this pencil, though I should suggest that once you apply it, smudge it fast because once it dries it will not budge from your eyes until you use a makeup remover. Regardless of the cons, I am yet to find a better liner than this, I love it!
