Marc Jacobs Lovemarc Lip Gel in 118 Roll the Dice

I have been wanting to try Marc Jacobs makeup for the longest time – especially their eye pencils. However, I have not been able to get my hands on them. However, I did come across this Marc Jacobs Lippy and thought of picking it up so that I get to try the brand. Though I continue to lust for their eye pencils – soon…

The Product:

What it is: A color-saturated, long-wearing, gellified lipstick with a sleek shine finish.

What it does: Fall in love with Marc’s irresistible, gellified lipstick. Full of pure pigment, this long-wearing lipstick has an irresistibly touchable texture. Unlike traditional waxy lipsticks, Lovemarc’s cutting-edge, gellified formula delivers the utmost in creaminess, comfort, and color payoff. An infusion of monoi butter—a velvety cream made from the tropical tiare flower—provides intense hydration, while myrrh extract works to reduce the signs of aging, and an innovative 3-D plumping agent adds gentle volume. The vivid shades are all inspired by Marc’s favorite movies.

What else you need to know: Subtly scented with vanilla, Lovemarc will be your new object of desire.

Price: $ 24 in US, I paid about INR 1800 to pick this from a local store keeping International cosmetics.

Packaging: The packaging of the lipstick is rectangular oval with Marc Jacobs inscribed on the cap. There is a metallic knob which just acts as beautification. The good thing is that it has an excellent magnetic closure – which ensures your lippy doesn’t come open in your bag – accidentally! An absolute nightmare that can be! The lippy comes in a black and white cardboard box.

My experience with Marc Jacobs Lovemarc Lip Gel in 118 Roll The Dice:

The Color: It is a very pretty raspberry pink – my favorite kind of pink! Not unique in itself but extremely brightening – it just lights up the face. The gel like texture of the product gives it high glossy shine and a glassy finish. It reflects light off its surface and you can feel translucency to the colour – like a YSL Volupte Shine Lipstick.

Texture – The texture is extremely light and glides smoothly across the lips with ease. Its light-weight and hydrating while worn. The Monoi butter, added as ingredient, does make the lipstick creamy. However, I cannot comment on it reducing the signs of ageing!!

Pigmentation – The pigmentation of the lipstick is ok-ok – its on the lighter side – say about 50% colour deposit in single swipe. So you definitely need multiple swipes to build up to the colour in the tube. However, it could be a boon for girls who don’t want the colour to be so bold – a couple of swipes will do the trick for them.

Lasting Power: I am not very impressed with the staying power of the lippy. First you need to build up the colour to get full on pigmentation. However, a couple of hours down (about 3hours) – the shade starts losing its intensity and starts becoming lighter – even without eats or drinks. Having a meal will ensure that the lipstick disappears from your mouth. Overall, I get about 3.5-4 hours wear time, which for me isn’t spectacular.

IMBB Rating: 3.5/5

It’s a nice shade and an overall decent product but not worth the price tag. At this price point, I would rather pick up a YSL Volupte Shine.
