Marc Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer Review

Hello everyone,

In my recent haul, I picked up some new releases by Marc Jacobs. One of these items was the New Marc Jacobs Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer.  I love anything coconut and reading the claims on this product, I was convinced that this will be the most ideal product for my dry skin. Read on to know how this product fared for me.

Marc Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer

Product Description:
A skin-smoothing, makeup extending primer infused with five types of coconut.

What it does:

Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer brings the refreshing feel of coconut to your face while it perfects and extends makeup wear. With its nutrient-rich formula, it leaves a smooth and improved skin surface. It’s enriched with concentrated coconut extracts which form a natural, vitamin-rich barrier between your skin and makeup. The coconut water-derived polysaccharide complex mirrors the effect of synthetic priming ingredients, allowing your skin to breathe without compromising the skin-perfecting benefits. The result is makeup that stays on longer and skin that appears younger-looking and better than ever.  It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates.

My Experience with Marc  Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer:

Packaging:  Oh, how I love the packaging of this!! It looks so luxurious and super classy with the all-white heavy frosted glass bottle with a pump. I love flaunting this on my vanity. This is not the most ideal packaging for travel.

Texture/Consistency:  This primer is thin in consistency and one pump is enough for the whole face. It spreads so smoothly onto the skin and has a slight cooling effect. It takes a few minutes for it to completely absorb into the skin.

Feel on skin:  Once absorbed, this primer leaves no tacky or greasy feel on the skin. The skin feels so soft, smooth and supple. The smoothness does not feel fake, like the feel imparted by silicone primers.  Instead, it truly feels as if my skin is deeply hydrated. Though my skin does lean more towards normal rather than dry during winter time and I suffer from considerably less dry patches, I am loving this primer much more due to its super lightweight feel on the skin. This does hydrate my skin enough for this time of the year, but come winter, I know I will have to use a moisturizer to supplement this. I feel this primer is hydrating, but not moisturizing and it will not counteract the signs of dehydrated skin if you know what I mean.

Finish on skin/Results:  The finish this primer leaves on skin is incredibly natural looking. It is not dewy but it’s not entirely mattifying either. It leaves a very subtle glow on the skin in a way a healthy-looking skin might give. I did not find this primer to entirely erase the look of pores but it does blur them to some extent. I do not face the issue of big pores hence this quality is not a deal breaker for me, but if you are someone with problematic pores and you are looking for something which does help you diminish that, you might not be happy with this.

This primer does go on completely clear hence it does not even out skin tone.  It does smooth out the skin texture and helps my makeup glide on smoothly. My foundation looked much better with this under it rather than on its own. It did help my makeup wear better and longer. It did not cause me to turn into a grease ball by the end of the day nor did it break me out.

Marc Jacobs

Fragrance:  This primer has a fruity floral perfume-y scent with a just a tiny hint of coconut. I was expecting more of a coconut scent since I love coconuts, but I don’t mind the scent it has. The scent does linger for a short while before fading.

I find this product to be very very similar (this is just a tad bit better than the Too Faced one in my opinion) in terms of performance, texture, feel, everything! It’s less expensive than this product.

Marc Jacobs Under Cover Perfecting Coconut Face Primer

Overall, I do really like this product and do enjoy using this primer. It doesn’t have a whole list of claims, it justifies the high price tag, and whatever it does – it does exceptionally well. I do think people of all skin types can use this, but it will be particularly loved by beauties with dry-combination skin types and this is a great product to wear under matte or powder foundations, which have a tendency to dry out skin. I will recommend this.
