“I don’t know who invented high heels, but all women owe him a lot.”
-Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe is the face, or should I say body of timeless beauty. Her red lips, blonde bob hair and flying dress are symbols of the same. Here are her top 7 beauty secrets, just for you all! 😉
For A Healthy Start to The Day

“I start warming a cup of milk on the hot plate I keep in my hotel room. When it’s hot, I break two raw eggs into the milk, whip them up with a fork, and drink them while I’m dressing.”
So, what is the significance of this? The concoction she used to make is an ideal, nourishing breakfast balanced with carbs and proteins for a working girl in a hurry.
To Take Utmost Care of The Skin
She washed her face with Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, which was the pioneer of cleansing oils. Shu Uemura, makeup artist in Hollywood in the late 1950’s, discovered an oil-based cleanser after seeing actors applying heavy makeup multiple times daily, and later developing sensitive skin from harsh makeup removers. After that, she slathered a couple of layers of Vaseline on as a moisturizing base (though doctors now wouldn’t agree on slathering on petroleum jelly onto your skin like that).
Marilyn also applied hormone cream and Erno Laszlo Active pHelityl Cream (which also, surprisingly, is composed mainly of Vaseline. Marilyn’s obsession with petroleum jelly!) or Nivea to give her a glow under studio lights!
For That Perfect Pout
To make her lips appear fuller, Monroe applied 5 different shades of lipsticks and gloss to create dimension. Darker reds went on the outer corners, while lighter reds were brushed on the middle of the lips. This created a shadowy 3D effect giving the lips a plumper look.
To Flutter More Eyelashes
The actress used to wear half set of eyelashes on the outer corners of her eyes to extend the shape of her eyes, followed by a couple of coats of mascara. Perfect lashes! Reminds me of the ladies in Cartoon Network fluttering their eyelashes! *hehe*
Yes to Facial Hair
Monroe’s face always seemed to glow from within. Her secret, facial hair! (Of course, it was blonde hair and not black/brown hair, like ours! :D.) She had the heaviest beard among actresses in Hollywood, as a result of the hormone cream. Though, the hormone cream was initially used to brighten her skin, it caused a thin layer of hair on her cheeks that caught the studio lights and she refused to wax it off because of that!
Signature Scent
An interviewer asked her- “What do you wear to bed? A pajama top? The bottoms of the pajamas? A nightgown?”
“Why, Chanel No. 5, of course” said Marilyn. “I don’t want to say ‘n*de’. But it’s the truth!”
Chanel No. 5 was her signature scent. She reportedly even poured the scent into her bathtub filled with water and soaked in it for hours. She was made the face of the perfume about 40 years after her death.
To Keep Weight Under Check
Her trick to lose weight fast – colonic irrigation, an enema that flushes out the bowels. Marilyn used this rather unpleasant technique throughout her life after first trying it. Doctors nowadays don’t advocate this method.
