Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser Review

Hey everyone,

Hope all of you are doing great. I have been extremely busy at work and I am left with no time for myself these days, but I have been missing IMBB, so tonight, I am on a mission to finish this review before I catch some sleep. Anyway, let’s start with the review. After trying out a face wash sample recently, I had a major acne flare up. I do get acne frequently but this one was really bad. I had these nasty looking painful bumps on my face that made me feel miserable and I wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible.  So, I started using the acne cleanser from Mario Badescu which I had bought some time back along with my favorite Mario Badescu facial spray (already reviewed). Read on to see if it was of any help to my skin.

Just like all the other products from Mario Badescu, this one also comes in a simple looking plastic bottle with a white sticker label. It has a flip up nozzle to dispense the product. I use the words “ordinary looking” because when I walked in the store, I saw that amidst all the glossy and gaudy packaged products from all the high end brands sitting pretty and screaming for attention, were these simple Mario Badescu products and still this brand manages to grab the customer’s attention. The reason is that it works and even celebrities love using the products by this brand. Personally, I don’t mind simple packaging as long as the quality of the product is good and also it means that we don’t have to pay a hefty price just for the packaging. All Mario Badescu products have it mentioned on the bottles which products will be suitable for what skin type, just like this one says {C,O} stating it is suitable for combination and oily skin type.

My Experience with Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser:

I started using this cleanser when I was in desperate need to get rid of my acne. My timing to test an acne cleanser could not be more perfect. I started using it religiously every morning. The combination of aloe, chamomile and salicylic acid really seemed to be working well on my skin. Initially, I was scared that salicylic acid would over dry and my skin would be a dry, irritated and flaky mess, but I was surprised to see how gentle and hydrating this cleanser is. So, I started using it twice daily.

This is a clear, gel-like, non-foaming cleanser that is great for combination/oily skin. I take a tiny bit, massage it on my wet face for a few minutes and then rinse it off. It gives me clean and soft skin without stripping all the oils unlike the other acne cleansers. I love its fresh scent, although I can not quite describe its fragrance. I also use it frequently with my Clarisonic and it works well in cleansing. It removes most of my makeup on its own, but I still prefer using a makeup remover wipe to get rid of the waterproof mascaras and liners before I wash my face with this cleanser.

This cleanser saved my skin. Within a span of few days, my acne calmed down to a great extent. The redness decreased and the painful bumps were not painful any more. My skin came back to its normal self in two weeks with regular use of Mario Badescu acne cleanser and I was a happy bear once again.  I still get hormonal acne here and there but this cleanser makes them heal faster.
