Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner Review

Hello Dear Ladies!

Today, I have come with the review of a product that I have recently added to my skin care regimen. My Alba Botanica astringent was getting over, so I wanted another acid toner to replace it.I have learnt that there are two steps to a good skin toning. Firstly, you should use an acid toner immediately after cleansing your face. Thereafter, you should use a peptide/moisture based toner. For that, I use the Forest Essentials rose facial tonic mist (reviewed here).

Let’s see how this change of regimen and product has fared for me.

Price: INR 1910.50

Product Claims:
Formulated with 2% Glycolic Acid and Grapefruit Extract, this toner gently exfoliates and lifts dead skin, while reducing discoloration caused by acne scarring. It refreshes your skin so that it no longer looks dull and tired. Leaves skin looking and feeling refreshed. Removes acne scars. Non-drying. Alcohol free. Use twice daily after cleansing. Apply the lotion onto a cotton pad and wipe in an outward motion onto clean, dry skin, until cotton comes clean. Avoid the eye area and follow with moisturiser or night cream.

My Experience with the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner:

This toner comes in the classic Mario Badescu packaging. I find the packaging to be non-fussy, sturdy and practical. Really appreciate a tiny nozzle to squirt out the right amount of product. The product is a water-based toner, with a bluish tinge to it. It does not have any offensive smell as such. You take the required amount on a cotton pad and move it in circular motions on your face avoiding the eye area.

The product will STING, because it has glycolic acid in it. But if your skin is not very ultra sensitive, and if you keep your skin regularly moisturized, you will not experience any redness or peeling. This is an excellent product. It cleans out the pores, mildly yet effectively micro exfoliates the skin and prepares your skin for further treatments.

I cannot say enough good things about it. It has genuinely reduced the stubborn acne scars. It does not dry out my skin nor has it irritated my skin. My skin is sensitive, and prone to reactionary acne when irritated. This product has not at all irritated my skin; it absolutely delivers what it promises. It is recommended that we use it twice a day, but I feel that people in their twenties should not go for much frequent acid peeling. So I use it only once a day and I still feel it is equally effective. It is especially formulated for dry and sensitive skinned ladies; if you have this skin type then I wholeheartedly recommend this product to you. I would even recommend it to the oily skinned girls, as it does not irritate skin and soothes away excess sebum. It is highlighted on the packaging that it must not be used for those with acne flare puss, well best to follow their advice.

  1. I have been eying this product sine ages! I was about to pick up from the recent luxola sale as well.. but it ran out of stock 🙁 Thanks for the review… any other place you can buy this from ?

  2. I have been using this for years, absolutely love it. It’s keeps my sebum secretion in check plus has reduced my blackheads. But if u have sensitive skin do a patch test first, as it can irritate it because of the glycolic and grapefruit in it.
