Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder Review

Hi girls,

I had bought this special healing powder from Mario Badescu a while ago and have been using it for a long time now. Currently, I have no acne, but I have been suffering with adult acne on the chin and the cheek sides for a long time. I have been on a glycolic acid-based face wash routine, but still, something to mattify the foundation or T zone is always welcome. Have a look at this wonder:

My Experience with Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder:

I have used a lot of loose powders and HD powders for makeup. This one by Mario Badescu is a class apart. This comes with a green tint to it, perfect to cancel out redness of acne or broken capillaries. I do have some redness to my cheeks and this works nicely to cancel it out in one layer. Secondly, this comes in a huge tub which will last you ages.

The puff in it is super messy, when I received the product, it was full upto the brim and the powder was spilling everywhere. So, I transferred the extra into an empty pot and have been using a small blending brush to apply and rub it on the specific areas I need to mattify and cover redness.

The powder feels gritty. It will just sit on your pores and facial skin, it is thick and kind of blurs the look of my pores, I love that feeling. The powder will need to be rubbed slightly to be absorbed or else most of it flies away from my skin. The powder might make your skin look cakey and thicker and if used too much, could make you look greenish. 😛 The powder has to be lightly dusted on areas you think you get clogged pores. For me, the open pores on the cheek and the middle of the brows is my problem area.

This mattifies and blurs the pores and keeps oiliness at bay for 4 or more hours. Now, coming to usage part, ideally let it sit on the skin directly without a foundation to work, but you could use it over foundation as as a dusting and setting powder lightly. It will work. I have noticed lesser clogged pores, and more matte skin that looks poreless. The redness is cancelled as well. It makes skin appear smoother and the skin feels calmer too. It does fight shine like they claim.

Overall, I do not have to worry that a powder is clogging my pores, instead it feels the opposite. This will give you a slight coverage, but sometimes my skin looks too matte, in pictures.

Pros of Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder:

  • Decongests pores.
  • Keeps skin matte and shine free for long.
  • Blurs pores.
  • Cancels redness.
  • Sets foundation where your skin is prone to oiliness.

Cons of Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder:

  • Thicker, just sits on the skin.
  • Use it with a small brush for precise application.
  • It gets super messy with the puff.
  • Flies everywhere, even into my eyes.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Mario Badescu Special Healing Powder?
For sure, this is awesome. Mattifies, fights pore congestion, shine and sets foundation to an extent. I worry less about my makeup getting into my pores and clogging them with this on.
