My Experience with Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream:

My skin type – except for my face, my skin is extremely dry. I used to have really soft hands at one time. I wasn’t into any extreme maintenance – but did use hand cream at night and somewhat regular manicures. And then what happened? Well, I became a mom! 😉 So, things changed drastically. Not only did I NOT have time for manicures, I didn’t even have the time (read energy) to use a hand cream at night. And to make matters worse, my hands are constantly in and out of the water – losing moisture every time. Needless to say, we are pretty much at rock bottom.

Marks and Spencer Nature's Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream Packaging

So, in a bid to improve hand health, I picked up a couple of M&S hand creams.

Packaging:
The hand cream comes packaged in a simple plastic tube with a flip top from which the product can be easily dispensed out. The tube allows sufficient control over the amount of product being dispensed. There is no outer cardboard packaging or seal.

Fragrance:
It has a light shea butter fragrance – not too prominent to get over-powering and nauseous, neither too light to make you feel – what’s the point. To me, it is quite pleasant.

Marks and Spencer Nature's Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream Back

Texture:
The hand cream is extremely lightweight and easy to spread. Also, it absorbs quickly into the skin. The absorption into the skin is complete – meaning, without any residue or feeling of stickiness. This is excellent because it allows you to be able to continue working – like using your laptop, etc. without having to worry about getting smudge marks on everything.

Impact:
With this, my hands feel soft and supple till they go back into the water. It is definitely not an intensive hydration cream like the L’Occitane Shea Butter one. However, it is perfect for daytime ready moisture replenishment of your hands. It will give your hands light moisturization and maintain the hydration level of the skin.

Marks and Spencer Nature's Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream Cap

One last thing – Even though the label says “Shea Butter Hand Cream” and yes, shea butter has been used in the product, it is not the main ingredient. It is but mid-level in the ingredient list. Actually, this should not be surprising because at this price point and this quantity you cannot really expect shea butter to be the top ingredient. Let’s be realistic.

Marks and Spencer Nature's Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream Swatch

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream:

• Extremely lightweight.
• Absorbs quickly.
• Spreads easily.
• No white cast at all.
• No sign of greasiness or residue left behind.
• Does not stain.
• Has a lovely soft shea butter fragrance.

Cons of Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Shea Butter Hand Cream:

• Not intensely moisturizing.
• While the flip top tube is easy to use, it is a 100 ml packaging – so, not the most convenient to pop into your bag!

IMBB Rating: 4/5

I have tried Marks and Spencer hand creams before and though I liked them (especially the fragrance of the variants I picked) I didn’t find them ultra nourishing. Nothing comes even close to L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. However, I feel, these have a place of their own. While the intense hydration of L’Occitane Shea Butter works very well in the nighttime these M&S ones make for a nice day-time boost of moisture, especially in the summers. And it is a fairly decently priced product and you do get a good quantity.
