Today I’m reviewing the Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in the shades Truffle , Espresso and Sweet Plum. On my recent trip to my cousin’s, I saw few products of Mary Kay in her vanity. Being a makeup junkie, I was surprised that I never knew or heard of this brand before. And without wasting any more time, I took all the products I like (pretty much everything) from her and she was so sweet that she happily gave them to me (pros of having an older sister). 😀
Claims:

My Experience with Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color Truffle, Espresso, Sweet Plum:
Packaging:
The eyeshadow comes in a plastic compact container. The good part about the packaging is that the eye shadows are magnetic so they can easily fit into a Mary Kay palette or a Z palette.
Texture:
As listed in the description, these are mineral eye shadows and they are pretty smooth to work with. The shimmery one’s don’t feel chunky and they work well on their own or when worn underneath a primer. It didn’t have any fallout either.
Color/Pigmentation:
TRUFFLE is a dark brick shade. It has a beautiful metallic finish and is my favorite shade among the three. It’s not shimmery at all, I would say it has a semi-matte finish. The eyeshadow is richly pigmented and would give a more vibrant look when used with a wet brush.
ESPRESSO is a cool toned grey-ish dark brown. This is a matte eye shadow and has an amazing pigmentation. I find this particular eye shadow smoothest of the rest. Would look good when doing a Smokey eye.
SWEET PLUM is a shimmery plum/eggplant color. Even though this has shimmer, it still doesn’t look chunky. Gives a beautiful sheen and is a perfect eye color for fall.
Staying Power:
The staying power of these vary with the finish. I find the matte one stays as long as 8 hours on my lids whereas the shimmery ones are good for 5-6 hours without priming. However, I highly recommend using a primer underneath for more staying power and for more vibrant pigmentation. They don’t crease what so ever and I had no issue with fading as well.
I did see people comparing these with the Urban Decay eye shadows and few people compared them with the MAC eye shadows as well. Honestly, I haven’t used either of them to compare. But overall, these are definitely crease resistant (as I mentioned before), long wearing (I go from daytime to night time without reapplying…ever), and I rarely notice any oil build up on my eyelids while wearing these – let’s just cut to the chase – I am very impressed and the Mary Kay is true to their word.

• Shimmery ones are not very easy to blend

Yes, if it doesn’t hurt your pocket or if you are the one who likes trying different products. They are definitely good quality products when compared to many drugstore eyeshadows.
