Max Factor CC Instant Complexion Enhancer in Bronze Review

Max Factor CC Instant Complexion Enhancer in Bronze

Hi guys,

I had jumped in to the BB /CC cream bandwagon sometime back, but this is going to be my first review in this category. I had come to know about BB creams couple of years back during my frequent trips to Malaysia and they were quite popular in Asia during that time. I wanted to try it but couldn’t find my shade as they were either lighter or ashy on me. The garnier BB cream was the first BB cream to be launched in Australia and I eagerly waited to try it – but alas the colour match was again not good. I was deeply disappointed.

Couple of months backs however I purchased the Maybelline 8 in 1 BB cream and later the Maxfactor CC cream. Since a similar product to the Maybelline 8 in 1 BB Cream has already been reviewed here, I will be reviewing the Maxfactor CC cream.

This is my very first product from Maxfactor as I find this brand to be quite on the expensive side of the Drugstore category and also because all drugstore makeup products are highly priced here in AUS compared to other developed/western countries.

What is a CC Cream?

A CC cream offers the skincare benefits of a BB cream but with added nourishing ingredients, a lighter texture, more effective skin coverage and the potential ability to repair problem skin.CC creams typically come in more shades than BB creams.

My take on Max Factor CC Instant Complexion Enhancer in Bronze:

I purchased this from Myer as I had a $5 off voucher, so this worked out at $15.What really tempted me to buy this was the shade Bronze matched my skin tone very well. The shade bronze was the darkest shade available and had the most yellow undertone out of all the shades. I usually find it impossible to get my colourmatch from drugstore brands, but this was an exception. This did not leave a white cast at all in spite of having an SPF factor.

I have been using this for the past month and find this product does fulfill most of its claims. I have combination skin which is mostly problem free except for dryness around my lip area. I usually apply moisturizer around my lip and chin area and then use this CC cream all over. I top it off with Colouressence compact in shade dusky. I have been wearing this for the past month for work. My skin looked radiant and moisturized. The foundation pigments in this CC cream provide good coverage which is much better than BB creams. I have also not had any irritations or blemishes. This CC creams lasts at least around 5-6 hours and provides medium to full coverage depending on how much you apply.

Since it has SPF I have been skipping sunscreen but I feel SPF 10 is not enough, especially for Australia. Since I don’t like to wear foundation every day, this is a good alternative for me as it feels weightless on my skin and provides decent coverage.Eventhough I use compact over it, it is not needed as this CC does not make my skin oily. Over all I feel I can make my skin look flawless daily by using just this one product.

Pros of Max Factor CC Instant Complexion Enhancer in Bronze:

• Contains active ingredients such as jojoba, cucumber water, rosehip and sea buckthorn to hydrate skin
• Instantly perfects skin and is fairly long lasting in Australian weather
• Oil free, didn’t clog pores or cause any breakouts
• Gives medium to full coverage without feeling heavy on the skin.
• Dermatologically tested.
• Golden and Bronze shades are perfect for Indian skin tones.

Cons of Max Factor CC Instant Complexion Enhancer in Bronze:

• Pricy for a Drugstore brand
• SPF 10 is not enough, especially for Australia
• Bronze is the darkest shade available and it will suit NC 40- NC44 skin, I hope they bring out darker shades to cover a more broader skin colours.

IMBB rating: 4.5/5

Will I repurchase this?
I already have. At least for now, this is the only CC cream which matches my skin perfectly, so I will continue to buy this product.
