I am pleased and astonished to tell you ladies that this is my very first Maxfactor eyeshadow :dumb: I am as unaware about the brand and its product range as anyone new to makeup would be about blush, bronzer and highlight :D, but seriously, I thought I should explore new territories of nice and affordable ranges from brands other than Maybelline, Revlon and L’Oreal. So, I stopped by at the Maxfactor counter at Shopper’s Stop and was quite devastated to see such a minimal stock, but this was more or less what I had expected. I was hoping to find some nice matte lipsticks and some nice metallic shadows. I could see some hot pink lipsticks, nice mascaras and then these eyeshadow singles caught my attention.
The SA didn’t know any shade I spoke of (blues and plums, I did not say teal or aqua :headbang: ) or maybe it was the communication gap (I don’t speak tamil, forgive me), but I asked her to bring out new pieces of whatever shades she had in these singles and she did. She was insisting me to buy the trios and other singles costing some 420 rupees. By the end of the whole session, I was still very confused about testers and fresh pieces, but nevertheless, I managed to pick up some nice shades in eyeshadow singles for you all to see and try; in case you want to venture out of quads and Maybelline territory.
The trios did not impress me at all. They did not have many options and did not look pigmented. There were some single shadows in a square packing, I forget the name  , but looked better pigmented, and then there were these. These looked like they would be chalky, but were surprisingly smooth and pigmented, just enough pigmented and smooth. No fallout, no chalkiness, smooth satin finish and a soft pearl sheen to it.
The shadow is nice to apply, soft and smooth and the best part is that it is very buildable. I don’t like to blend it since it’s a light color. I like to pack it on, so that the color would show. The color is a greenish silver, like a dirty silver to me and I simply love silver, aqua, khaki and teals for the eyes, of course for special days only, not every day.
This is my kind of silver, not very white, but rather has a little green hint to it. It would look great on hazel eyes I think and I paired it with a deep black in the crease. No fallout, decent optimum pigmentation makes it stay for a minimum of five hours on a base like some foundation. I have used it over a foundation in the picture.
I am not sure about the blue eye liner I wore for the picture, but I was halfway through, so I went ahead with it. My husband called it “fluorescent” and since then I never wore it :waa: let me know your thoughts on it, a plain black liner with black in the crease should look very angel like I feel. With such a color, I think even black mascara would show up much more than regular wear. The name is apt, the eyes look brighter and angel like with such a color.
Last Word on Maxfactor Earth Spirits Eyeshadow – 129 Angel Eyes:
This is an eyeshadow single in Rs. 375 to look out for. Its nice and smooth and a very different color. Try it to know if it suits you, but I feel dusky beauties can look bright eyed with such a shade. For Rs. 375 for a single, I might say its a little over priced, but nicely pigmented and smooth with some colors worth checking out. I will be reviewing two more from this range soon.
