Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm Review

I had been to the mall recently when I spotted these babies. They were stacked up on the Maybelline counter and I asked the SA for testers. She told me there were two new shades, one being this and the other was a brown (cannot remember the name). There is no official news about the new addition anywhere so I really doubted if it was a fake at first, but then I made up my mind and bought one. The shade I picked is called ‘berry sherbet’ which is a dark berry shade, and this new addition says they’re specially crafted for Indian preferences. Let’s know more.

My Take On Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm:

The packaging is just like the baby lips lip balms; a plastic color-coordinated tube with a small cap that shuts snugly. The stick can be twisted up and down, but sometimes it refuses to go down completely. The shade name is mentioned on the body of the tube as well.
The texture is very much similar to the old version of baby lips, but the electro lip balms were slightly thinner in texture. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky.

This claims to moisturize for 12 hours, which is not at all true. I love the yummy aroma, which is a jazz of some spice and a berry flavor. The lip balm looks so dark and vampy from the stick but it reveals a soft color. It is not highly pigmented, but I guess that’s the case of most of the baby lips. It gives a nice brown-red color when swiped more than thrice. On my lips, it gives a nice brownish-red tint. As they say that it is made for Indian preference and skin tones, it definitely suits all Indian tones well. The other shade that I spotted was a warm brown which was not as pigmented as this. The lip balm is very soft and when I swatched it, little chunks of it came off so one needs to handle it well.

It gives a nice luster with a hint of tint and also has an SPF of 20. They have hiked the SPF in these new lip balms which is good for the summer. It lasts for around 2 hours and it starts to disappear if I talk too much. It doesn’t survive a meal or a drink and it needs to be reapplied. The ingredient list is missing in this one, and they’ve only mentioned coconut oil and vitamin E. The old ones had an ingredient list on them.

It does moisturize my lips but it doesn’t heal the dryness and flakiness. It also hydrates my lips well and protects them. There’s nothing spectacular about this one, but then as a lip balm collector, I had to grab it! I love the feeble tint, the spicy-sweet aroma; who doesn’t like baby lips?!

• It gives a nice brownish-red tint that looks lovely when you want a break from lipsticks.
• Has a nice spicy-berry aroma. (sensitive noses may find it strong)
• Comes with an SPF 20.
• Hydrates and moisturizes my lips until it stays.
• Affordable.

Cons of Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm:

• Lasting power could have been better.
• 12 hour moisture claim is not exactly true.
• Doesn’t heal chapped lips.

Would I Recommend/Re-Purchase Maybelline Baby Lips Berry Sherbet Spiced Up Lip Balm?
Yes. If you are a lip balm fanatic like me, then I’d reckon you should get this because the aroma is lovely. It is more similar to the berry crush from the old lot but the aroma is amazing.
