My Experience with Maybelline Baby Lips Spicy Cinnamon Spiced Up Lip Balm:

Packaging: The lip balm comes in a cardboard packing, with a transparent tube to hold it. The cardboard is nicely decorated with colorful patterns which look really nice and girly. Except the difference in design, there is no difference between this one and the regular baby lips’ packaging. It comes in the same color coded twist up tube, with Baby Lips written in white large font. The lip balm can be twisted up and down with a twister located just at the bottom of the tube. Overall, the packaging is cute and travel friendly, but rather boring!

Shade: Spicy Cinnamon, as the name suggests, is really a spicy warm brown color. The color has a nice sheen to it. The lip balm has no shimmers to it. All the three shades in this range are basically designed to suit Indian skin tones, but this shade is really apt for warm Indian skin tones and dusky complexions. The color comes out very light on lips even with multiple swipes, it’s not too dark. It’s a perfect MLBB tinted lip balm for everyone.

Texture and Pigmentation: The lip balm has the sort of dense, creamy and buttery texture to it. It glides effortlessly on lips, without feeling tacky or sticky. The lip balm doesn’t weigh down lips. It gives a healthy and supple effect on lips. It’s extremely hydrating on lips, although it doesn’t works as a healing or repairing balm. It doesn’t treat and smooth my flaky lips. I have to exfoliate my lips very nicely beforehand.

The lip balm doesn’t diminish the appearance of flaky areas of my lips. The lip balm is good to be applied as a nice base for a matte lipstick. I thought this color would be the darkest among the three shades, but it turned out to be a subtle n*de-ish brown color. The lip balm is not as pigmented as Lakme Lip Love Lip Balms. It has just a tint to it, nothing much.

The pigmentation is not really buildable for this shade. It gives the same color in one swipe as it gives in multiple swipes. This shade is good to be worn on its own only for non pigmented lips. The lip balm doesn’t bleed from the natural lip lines, even after applying multiple coats of it. Considering it is just a lip balm, I won’t complain about the pigmentation much.

Staying power: The company really fakes it when it makes the claim of 12 hours intense hydration and blah…blah..blah! The lip balm stays on my lips for more than 2 hours, with mild snacking and drinking. But, the color starts fading after few hours. It does give a healthy effect on lips as long as it lasts on lips, but after that, my lips return to the same normal state without any signs of super soft baby like lips.

Pros of Maybelline Baby Lips Spicy Cinnamon Spiced Up Lip Balm:

• Nice three dark shades to suit every skin tone, especially Indian skin tones
• Nice tinted nude warm brown lip balm
• Can be worn on everyday basis
• The lip balm has a nice subtle sheen to it
• Nice creamy, buttery texture, which glides super easily on lips
• It doesn’t feels heavy on lips
• Lips feel hydrated and supple throughout
• Doesn’t bleed with multiple coats
• Has SPF in it, so it can be worn alone outdoors
• The lip balm is best to be used as a lip primer
• The mild tint of color keeps lips moisturised
• Stays for 2.5 hours which is quite okay for a lip balm

Cons of Maybelline Baby Lips Spicy Cinnamon Spiced Up Lip Balm:

• The lip balm doesn’t stay on lips for 12 hours, as the company claims
• I expected the shade to be the darkest of all, but the tint starts to fade after ½ an hour of application
• I think the price is a little expensive for a lip balm
• Doesn’t work as a healing or treating lip balm
• One will have to exfoliate flaky lips nicely, if they plan to apply this lip balm alone because it won’t smoothen the dry flaky chapped lips
• Naturally pigmented lips can skip this shade

IMBB Rating:
4/5

Will I Recommend Maybelline Baby Lips Spicy Cinnamon Spiced Up Lip Balm?
Yes, you can definitely buy this if you’re a fan of Baby Lips. These new shades are really worth a try, because they are a little different from previous shades. The shades are really new in the world of lip balm, I think. So, yes they are really worth buying!

  1. You have beautiful non pigmented lips Supriya. The shade looks great on you. I like this new range but I am so bored of Baby Lips now. Also, I like balms that repair and heal my lips.

  2. Same like you Neha. I just like to collect them all because the packaging is sooooo cute!!!! Price wise and quantity wise they are OKish. Otherwise this range does not fulfill much of their lengthy promises.
