This is actually one of my first products ever when I was getting into makeup.  I picked this up last week because I was in need of a lighter shade as my old one was a little dark and I decided to get the mini one instead of the full size. Since I have been using it for quite a while now, I am more than ready to review this product.

My Take on Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder:

To start off, this actually has SPF 25 PA ++ in it and it’s always nice to know that a product offers sun protection. Moving on, this powder comes in a pressed form and it actually feels really smooth and velvety when I first swatched it on my hand.  When I applied this on my skin, it does help control the oil for 3-4 hours which is great for oily skin girls and I do have to reapply this throughout the day to prevent from looking as shiny as a disco ball. But it does help in brightening and even skin tone. Plus it’s pretty true to shade and if you get the right shade, it won’t mess with the color of your foundation.

If you apply this thinly on your face, it does give you a smooth complexion, but if you have got dry skin or just happen to apply a little too much, you are going to end up with cakey skin. Sadly, this also settles into fine lines and wrinkles.  About concealing blemishes, it doesn’t conceal at all, not even a single bit. But, this is nice for when you have a good skin day and want a light dust of powder because it actually feels really lightweight on the skin and easy to buff into the skin. Also, when you want to set your concealer, this product is perfect as it sets your concealer all day long. This gives a matte but natural finish.

I would say it’s pretty long lasting; however, it doesn’t control oil for very long, but if someone splashes water on you or it rains, this powder is gone. It’s sweat proof but definitely not waterproof.

Just a warning, this is a fragranced product. It doesn’t have a strong fragrance and you actually can barely smell it.  After using this for a really long time, this has never once caused me to breakout nor has it caused any redness, irritation or etc.

Packaging wise, I would say it’s tiny, slim, lightweight and pink! It’s reasonably priced and absolutely travel friendly. It won’t take up much space in your makeup bag and it’s an ideal size as a makeup bag item. The lid for this is also really tight and sturdy and it won’t be breaking anytime soon, so no messes.

Cons of Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder:

• Only controls oil for 3-4 hours, re-application is required.
• Looks cakey on dry skin or when excess is applied.
• Settles into fine lines, wrinkles and makes dry patches look very obvious.
• Does not cover blemishes.
• Fragranced product (for those whom dislike fragranced products).
• Not waterproof.

Would I Repurchase Maybelline Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder?

Occasionally, it’s not something I must have, but it’s something that I will purchase for when I need it. It’s reasonably priced and worth a look, but the purchasing part is all up to you. I’d say this is a pretty average powder.
