How are you doing today? I know we all are shocked and quite sad with the inhuman assault on innocent kids in Peshawar. My heart goes out to the little lives, may almighty bless them with jannat and give immense strength to their parents! It’s really disgusting how the so-called humans always target innocent kids, people for their insane goals, and their goal has nothing to do with humanity at all. Anyway, it is good to see that even though we are all divided by religion, we are united by terror; Mumbai or Peshawar, the color of blood is same. I am also here to talk about my latest purchase with you all which shows my great love for Maybelline Color Elixir range. I already own many shades from this “Color Elixir” range and recently picked up a few gorgeous shades, one of them is “Raspberry Rhapsody,” which I will share with you all today.
$6- 49 for 0.17 Fl Oz, price vary across stores.
Hyper-saturated color, ultra cushiony feel. The new hypnotic lip sensation. A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss. Our exclusive smoothing angora brush delivers a polished , even application and smoothing sensation to lips.
This luscious creamy lip color comes in the usual sturdy and transparent plastic bullet case packaging with silver cap and doe-foot applicator which gives an illusion of lipstick bullet. It does have a faint vanilla type smell which is not overpowering and usually subsides in an hour or so. Overall, quite an attractive and travel-friendly packaging.
My Experience with Maybelline Color Elixir Raspberry Rhapsody Lip Color:
Well, I already own a few shades from this range and love them; this shade is just another gorgeous addition to my stash. Raspberry Rhapsody is a beautiful shimmery shade of purple with a mix of fuchsia and a subtle hint of pink as well, which is a bit different from what we see in the packaging, but I love it. This gloss absolutely brightens up my skin tone unlike fuchsia/purple pinks which tend to make me look tanned. I haven’t seen such a gorgeous purple-pink shimmery gloss yet. It seems much more pigmented and long lasting than the other glosses.
The texture is balmy, glossy, but not sticky at all with sheer-medium color payoff on the lips. I love how it blends into my skin without settling in fine lines or bleeding. It gives a perfect pink-purple glossy hue in 2 swipes while I usually swipe it thrice for intense color payoff and finish. This way it stays as long as 6 hours, impressive, isn’t it? Even if I swipe it more than once, it never bleeds and does not settle in the corner of our lips.
I am also happy to see that it looks more pink toned with subtle blue-silver shimmer and not like cheap glittery balms. The gloss gives such a nice plump effect to my lips and also keeps them hydrated and soft even after removing it off lips for good 3-4 hours. Thankfully, it does not leave any trace of glitter or stain behind after fading off after one heavy meal. The wear time depends on the number of swipes and it varies between 4-6 hours which is pretty good.
I am wearing this shade very often and it does not dry out my lips, which means it’s great for winters as well. I am quite sure it will help to conceal problematic areas up to a good extent (therefor good for pigmented lips); however, it might not work well on deeply pigmented lips. I won’t say it heals dry lips, but it does take care of little dryness here and there pretty well with buildable color payoff and hence I recommend it to every gal, especially for winters.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Maybelline Color Elixir Raspberry Rhapsody Lip Color:
- A lovely and subtle purple-fuchsia, non-sticky glossy lip color, tending to be a cool-toned pink with a subtle hint of silver-blue glitter.
- Effortlessly glides on dry lips, no feathering, does not settle in fine lines.
- Gives a nice glossy sheen with balmy finish in 1-2 swipes, can be made more intense with more than two swipes without any bleeding and/or cakey look.
- Certainly moisturizes and hydrates lips as long as the gloss stays on the lips. Keeps lips soft and supple even after fading off.
- Can stay for as long as 6 hours in 2-3 swipes.
- Brightens up complexion, conceals light lip pigmentation as well.
- Takes care of mild dry patches without accentuating them further.
- Attractive and travel-friendly packaging.
Cons of Maybelline Color Elixir Raspberry Rhapsody Lip Color:
- Gives slight medium coverage.
- Transfers on to cups and cutlery.
Well, I feel Maybelline Color Elixir lip colors are quite decent lip products, but they cannot be considered as lip colors looking at their sheer-medium color payoff. They look more like balmy and glossy tinted products. Nevertheless, I love them and have bought many shades recently for winters. Probably, I will get them again and again.
This lip color certainly deserves 4.5/5!
