Maybelline has recently launched Maybelline Color Jolt Matte Intense lip paints in eight gorgeous shades. Rati has swatched all the shades here. Today, I am going to review the shade “Bittersweet Mandarin” from the same range.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Jolt Matte Intense Lip Paint 02 Bittersweet Mandarin:

Beginning with the packaging of the product, the lipstick comes in a nice easy squeeze tube with a soft foam applicator. The tube is tiny and easy to accommodate. The body of the tube is color-coded, which helps to spot the shades easily from makeup stash. The tube has detailing with black fonts and has a long matte black cap. This is a typical screw on type cap that fits pretty securely making the packaging leaf-proof and travel friendly. The cap has a nice rubberized texture which feels super soft. The applicator is soft and gives precise applicator. The slanted tip helps to apply the lipstick easily. Overall, the packaging is really nice and travel friendly.

“Sweet Mandarin” is a nice coral-orange kind of a shade. It is a lovely summery shade. The color is not too stark and wearable. The shade is suitable for all skin tones. This is such a perfect shade for the upcoming wedding season. It is super pigmented and gives opaque finish in a single swipe hiding the pigmentation of the lips. The color is easily buildable. It instantly brightens up the face. The finish of this lipstick is super matte. The lipstick does not look flat on the lips. There is no significant sheen or shimmers in this lipstick. It has a sweet as well as citrusy kind of fragrance in it, which is very refreshing. The smell is not too strong or bothersome.

The texture of the lipstick is soft and smooth. The formula is on the creamier side, so it glides effortlessly on the lips without any tugging or pulling. The color spreads easily on the lips. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips. The lipstick does not budge at all. It has a tendency to transfer a little but still the formula does not transfer heavily. The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips.

It has a tendency to cling to dry patches of the lips, so it is mandatory to exfoliate and moisturize lips prior ot application. This lip paint is not really moisturizing. My lips feel dry after a few hours of application, so it is necessary to keep the lips hydrated and nourished.

The lasting power is super long, it stays for around 6-7 hours easily on my lips. It does not smear at all. The color fades a little with a full meal. A light stain stays on the lips, so I prefer a reapplication after meals to make it look fresh and beautiful. Removing the lipstick is easy but it has the tendency to stain the lips slightly, so it is important to use a good makeup remover to take off the lipstick completely.
