My Experience with Maybelline Color Jolt Matte Intense Lip Paint 05 You Red-Me:

Beginning with the packaging of the product, this lip paint comes in a nice, easy squeeze tube with a soft foam applicator. The tube is tiny and easy to accommodate in your makeup kit. The body of the tube is color coded which helps in spotting the shade easily from your makeup stash. This is a typical screw-on type cap that fits pretty securely making the packaging leak-proof and travel friendly. The cap has a nice rubberized texture which feels super soft. The applicator is soft and helps with precise application. The slanted tip helps to apply the lip paint easily. Overall, the packaging is really nice and travel friendly.

“You Red-Me” is a nice cool-toned red shade. This shade would suit all skin tones. It is a lovely color which brightens up my complexion. The color is subtle and not too stark, hence all complexions can carry it off very easily. This is a perfect shade for the coming wedding season as it adds nice pop of color to the entire look. It does not look too bold or over the top. This lipstick is super pigmented. It gives close to opaque coverage in a single swipe. I apply two coats which helps me to conceal lip pigmentation and gives a nice and even color to my lips. The paint sets to nice, soft, matte finish. There is no significant sheen or shimmer. This lip paint has a sweet, candy-like fragrance, which is refreshing and barely noticeable, hence not bothersome at all.

The texture of the lipstick is soft and smooth. The formula is on the creamier side, hence it glides effortlessly on the lips without any tugging or pulling. The color spreads easily on the lips. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips and looks even and smooth. The color hugs the lips nicely and never looks patchy. This lip product has a tendency to transfer a little, but I am glad the formula is not heavily prone to transfer. The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have that thick or waxy kind of texture.

This lip paint has a tendency to cling to dry patches of the lips, so it is necessary to exfoliate lips prior to application. The formula is not really moisturizing. My lips feel dry after a few hours of application. So, it is necessary to keep the lips hydrated and nourished. I prefer using a lip balm beneath every time I use this lipstick otherwise my lips get dry at the end of the day.

The lasting power is super long, it stays for around 6-7 hours easily, does not smear though the color fades away a little after a full meal. A light stain stays on the lips, so I prefer a reapplication after meals to make it look fresh and beautiful. Removing this paint is easy but it has the tendency to stain the lips slightly, so it is important to use a good makeup remover to take down the lip paint completely.
