My Experience with Maybelline Color Jolt Matte Intense Lip Paint Mad Blood:
Beginning with the packaging of the product – the lipstick comes in a nice easy squeeze tube with a soft foam applicator. The tube is tiny and easy to accommodate in any clutch. The body of the tube is color coded, which helps to spot the shades easily from makeup stash. The tube has detailing with black fonts and has a velvety matte black cap. This is a typical screw-on type cap that fits pretty securely making the packaging leak-proof and travel friendly. The applicator is soft and helps with precise application. The slanted tip helps to apply the lipstick easily. Overall, the packaging is really nice and travel friendly.
“Mad Blood” is a bold plum wine shade. This shade is flattering on Indian skin tones. This is the only bold shade from the newly-launched ones. Rest of the shades are pretty n*des for everyday use. The shade is bold, not for faint-hearted, but this is not too stark and is wearable for regular use. “Mad Blood” would suit all skin tones. It is a lovely color, which brightens up the complexion.
The lipstick is super pigmented. It imparts a semi-opaque coverage in a single swipe, two swipes impart a nice and opaque coverage. It hides pigmented lips really well. The lipstick sets to nice, soft, and matte finish. There is no significant sheen or shimmer in this lipstick. It has a sweet, candy-like fragrance, which is barely noticeable.
The texture of this lip paint is soft and smooth. The formula is on the creamier side, and that’s why it glides effortlessly on the lips without any tug or pull. The formula is feathery light and feels like the powder matte lipsticks from Maybelline.
The color spreads easily on the lips, it does not settle into the fine lines of the lips and looks even and smooth. The color hugs the lips nicely and never looks patchy. The lipstick does not budge at all. It has a tendency to transfer a little, but I am glad the formula is not heavily transferring.
The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have that thick or waxy kind of a texture. Being a matte lipstick, it has the tendency to cling on to dry patches of the lips, so it is necessary to keep the lips well exfoliated and moisturized. The lipstick formula is not really moisturizing. My lips feel dry after a few hours of application, so it is necessary to keep the lips hydrated and nourished. I prefer using a lip balm beneath every time I use this lipstick otherwise my lips get dry at the end of the day.
The lasting power is super long, it stays for around 6-7 hours easily on my lips. It does not smear at all. The color fades a little with a full meal. A light stain stays on the lips, so I prefer reapplication after meals. Removing the lipstick is little tedious as it stains the lips slightly but a good makeup remover does the job perfectly.
