Today, I am going to review a lip polish from Maybelline. Maybelline recently launched some new additions to its lip polishes line called ‘berry’. This range consists of 3 shades- Glam 21, Pop 7 and Pop 8. I picked up the colour Pop-7, so let’s see how it fared.

My experience with Maybelline Lip Polish Berry Pop 7:
Maybelline lip polishes have been in the market for quite a while and we are all familiar with its formula and packaging. Same goes with this berry range. The lip polish comes in a cuboidal packaging. The top is silver in colour and the product number is written at the bottom. Overall, I love the packaging, it’s of course simple, yet adorable! Perfect for tossing in your handbag. It won’t leak or create a fuss, and hence its travel-friendly.
Like the previous lip polishes, the applicator is leaf-shaped. Hence its flat in the middle and tapering towards the end. This allows you to apply the lip polish in the inner corners of the lips and also spread it evenly. I like the applicator over the standard bristle applicators that most lip glosses provide. However, the applicator has fiber lines, which actually creates lines on the lip too, so I have to even it out. But I don’t really mind it, as it takes barely a second to even it out.
I love the claim they made about the product, ‘A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushion-y care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss’. I totally agree with the claim they have made! The colour is intense, you don’t need a lip balm underneath and it is, of course glossy! It is not sticky at all. When it comes to the staying power, I think the colour can stay for 4 hours easily. To test the staying power, I went out on a dinner last night wearing this lip polish. I don’t like much colour on my lips, so I just used one swipe of the product. Even after the meal was over, my lips felt moisturized and I didn’t wear any lip balm underneath. Though the colour was gone, it left a stain behind, which made my lips look healthy. However, I guess you get to see the colour after a little while after applying it.
Coming to the color of the product; I desperately wish that Maybelline gave a name to each color! All the shades in the berry range are dark pink. Glam 21 and Pop 8 are I’d say are Barbie pink. I actually suck at explaining the colour of lip products, but I hope you understood what I meant! Pop 7, however is the lightest among the rest of the colors in this range. It is not a bright pink, but a mix of nude and pink. The polish has very fine shimmers infused in it, which believe me, are not even noticeable once applied on the lips. The lip polish has no fragrance added to it. This color can be an everyday color if you use one swipe of it, however its build-able so you can make it darker if you want. It leaves my lips looking fuller and healthier. It feels light on the lips, which is a very nice feature.
Anyways, Maybelline lip polishes have never disappointed me. The formula is great, and if you haven’t yet given a try to any lip polish yet, I will suggest you to surely give them a chance. Thank you to mum for volunteering for the lip swatch!

- I wish the range had names for each colour.
- This shade sometimes needs to be paired with a darker lip liner beneath.
- Shimmer particles.

I always like trying out new shades, and I don’t think I will run out of this one soon. However the range is amazing, you have to give it a go, and if this shade is for you, definitely go for it!
