My lipstick obsession has made me buy the most dramatic and unconventional range of lipsticks called Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick. There is a grey, gold, green and many more. I don’t know how I am going to carry these, but the finish and texture is so amazing that I grabbed them all. My Experience with Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick Serpentine:
The packaging of the lipstick is common and like all other lipsticks of color sensational range. There is only a change in the color of the cap. The lipstick tube is rectangular and comes wrapped in a cellophane paper, which has necessary details about the product. The tube has a mirror finish and it closes with a long translucent black colored plastic cap.
There is a color-coded sticker at the base of the lipstick tube, which bears the shade name and number. The brand’s tagline is printed on the lipstick tube in small black fonts. Overall, the packaging is basic and travel-friendly. But, there is nothing too fancy about it.
This is my first green lipstick and probably the most unusual shade of the lipstick. This is the first time when Maybelline has come up with such dramatic shades in their permanent line. The shade “Serpentine” is a rich forest green color with golden shimmers in it. Though it has gold shimmers, it looks like it has metallic silvery sheen. The shimmers are small and finely milled into the lipstick. They do not look overpowering or gaudy, but the shade itself looks over to top and catches attention. I personally feel that green is most difficult to carry as a lip color. This color is not for faint-hearted people. This is not really wearable on normal basis. But, it is amazing for the Halloween. And, the best part about this lipstick is that a very few drugstore brands launch such unusual shades and that too with an amazing quality.
Most of the shades of this range have average pigmentation. This shade has semi-opaque coverage. The color is buildable with just two swipes. It looks even on the lips and covers the pigmentation easily. Despite having shimmers, there is no grittiness in the texture. It has a mild vanilla fragrance, which is barely bothersome. It is a little strong initially and fades away within a few minutes.
The texture of the lipstick is soft, smooth and creamy. It glides effortlessly on the lips and does not cause any dragging. But, it slightly tugs and pulls the lips, if the lips are not well exfoliated and moisturized. It is so lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have a thick or heavy texture. There is no stickiness in the formula. It is neither too drying nor really moisturizing. So, I always use a lip balm beneath to keep my lips hydrated for long. The lipstick does not have creasing tendency even if it is layered on. It does not look patchy. It does not transfer as much.
The longevity of the lipstick is somewhere around 4-5 hours on my lips, but later on it settles into the fine lines of the lips. The shimmers look gaudy and it requires instant reapplication. It is easy to remove. The shimmers get wiped off easily and the lipstick does not have any staining issues.
