I am tired singing praises of Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks and I am sure you are tired of listening too. These lipsticks are everything and more I need from a lipstick. Moisture, pigmentation, true to color, choices, finishes in glossy and crème, decent staying power and affordability! I don’t think I need anything else from a lipstick, but I wish they would constantly launch new shades (which they did last in some plums which I hated), but nevertheless, the shades they have to offer in 225 rupees is unbeatable!
You must have read and seen many of my reviews on gorgeous nude shades like Chestnut, Caramel Cream, Bonbon Caramel and the like, but today, I am reviewing a shade for “red lovers.” Red never goes out of fashion and this particular red is very suited for Indian skin tones since its not a blue-based red, but a very blood red and a maroon-red, which really makes warm skin tones brighter and perks up the face.
When I saw this lipstick at the counter, I thought this is way too dark and probably maroon and I don’t need it and it might just go to my mom for all you know. But when I swiped it, the pigmentation made me fall head-over-heels for it. It is so unbelievably smooth and creamy. It literally bursts up with color with just a single swipe. That’s the reason it can be termed as a very “lotus” lipstick and hence I use it as a stain. Well, not really a stain, but I apply some and then rub my fingers over my lips to even out the shade and then you can see the result in the LOTD.
The lipstick falls in a very pretty red shade family and its more maroon based and not really orange based. It is very dark and hence I feel it can light up light skin tones as well, but it can really lift warmer skin tones too, adding life to the face. The lipstick is soft and very deep in color and hence leaves a stain, that being the only trouble with this one, but if you see it in a positive light, it really leaves some hint even after a long day of work and that never makes your face dull. Otherwise too, when I rub it and tone it down, it easily lasts me for five hours.
The lipstick is a flat and almost matte color. It has no shimmer, no gloss, no glaze or frost. Its a plain, damn good red and this kind of red is a classic in every way. Though I suggest young girls may want to stay away from this shade, but if you wear it with a jet black liner, the Maybelline Gel Liner, just this as a hint, and some waves and curls down your shoulder, you would look like a classic beauty.
Overall, it is an unbelievably gorgeous red lipstick and if you don’t have one in your collection, you can easily get this one soon. I am yet to buy the “Desert Bloom” shade, which an absolute nude, but remaining I have most in my collection that I really cherish. 😀
