Maybelline recently launched the ‘Color Show Big Apple Red Lipstick’ range in India. This range has 5 different shades of red. Red is the biggest crush of every lipstick lover and we all have different preferences about red. But the shades in this range are quite similar, so the overall shade selection is not great. From this range, I have two shades: Pink My Red and Red Liberation. So today’s review is going to be on the shade ‘Red Liberation’. Let’s get into the details.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Show Big Apple Red Creamy Matte Lipstick Red Liberation:

Packaging: The packaging is same as the previous Color Show range of lipsticks. This ‘Big Apple Red’ range comes in a matte black plastic packaging with a red ring around the middle, which indicates the shade range. But, again, the details are printed on a plastic cover and you lose them once you lose the cover. On the bottom of this product, the shade is indicated with a color coded red sticker. Overall, this packaging is totally easy to carry, but I wish the packaging were different and new.

Shade & pigmentation: The Big Apple Red range has five shades. All the shades are definitely good, but I don’t find them very different from one another. They are quite similar. This ‘Red Liberation’ is a nice tomato red shade with warm undertones. It looks gorgeous and natural on my medium tanned skin. It is such a pretty and wearable shade of red for everyone. This red is very soft, is not exactly too bold but is very gorgeous for all occasions. I absolutely love the pigmentation. One swipe can provide nice red lips. For the shade to show up perfectly, I need only two to three swipes. It is a really nicely pigmented color. There is no shimmer in this shade.

Texture & Quality: Its soft texture glides smoothly on the lips. It has a nice creamy formula which keep my lips moisturized. It blends evenly on the lips. I absolutely love the way it looks on my lips. It also has a nice fruity scent which is not overpowering at all. The lipstick has a nice non- drying matte finish. It gives a soft creamy matte texture to my lips and it also doesn’t transfer that much. I feel that the texture is better than their creamy matte range. It never highlights dry lips, but my dry lips feel a little dry after 5 hours when it turns into a red matte stain.

Staying Power: It has a good staying power. It stays around 6 hours nicely. It can survive a meal and it doesn’t transfers that much during the meal. A little bit of transfer is there and is ok for me. But, as usual, a bit of color fades after a meal. It doesn’t settle into the fine lines. This lip color leaves a very nice red stain on the lips and the stain stays until you remove it. It is really hard to remove the stain from the lips even with an oil. My lips look light pink the next morning. I don’t like this quality of this lipstick, but I am really impressed with the staying power. It is a perfect party wear lip color.

Overall: I love this beautiful red and it makes me feel confident. Its smooth, non-drying, matte texture is superb. I am not super happy with the shade range, still I love this Big Apple range. It gives pouty red lips.

I already have two reds and I might buy another red. But I love the texture and the staying power, so I highly recommend this range. Choose the best red for yourself!
