Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl – Ocean Blue Review

Finally, the weather here up north is clearing up and I am super happy. Sunny winter days are my favourite, brings a kind of positive energy with them, don’t you think? Coming to today’s review, it is one of the new launches from Maybelline, the Colorshow Eyeliner in the shade 03 Ocean Blue. Actually, I went crazy after seeing the shade “Electric Blue” worn by Rati ma’am in the day to night look part 2, but since it was not available online, and I being too lazy a bum to go out and look for it, settled for this blue. Anyway, let’s go ahead and see how it fared on my rato-meter.

Price/Packaging/Product Description:

The new Maybelline Colorshow Eyeliner comes in a retractable form, which is very convenient. I quite like the packaging as they have colour coded the caps according to the shade (*coughs* Lakme Eyeconic, you listening??). The quantity provided is 0.3 gms at a price of Rs. 325/-, so pretty affordable

The shade which I have got, as I have already told you, is, 03 Ocean Blue.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl – Ocean Blue:

It is not a deep blue as I had expected *headbang*. That does not mean it is not a pretty colour. It is, but I had to adjust to the fact that it did not turn out to be what I had expected. It is a medium kind of blue, not too pale not too dark, with lots of glitters thrown in. However, they are not over the top and can be carried off easily for both day time and night time looks.

Coming to the texture, it is hard. If you have used Lakme Absolute, then you will understand what I am trying to say, or even Maybelline Colossal. Maybelline Colorshow eyeliner is hard in texture, and you have to tug and pull your eyes in order to apply it. It does not glide over your eyes very smoothly.

Once set, it does not budge. It is waterproof and long lasting. It stayed on for long on my oily lids and came off only when removed with my cleansing milk (or baby oil/makeup remover, whatever suits you). I have not tried this on my waterline as I have no intention to wear a glittery blue there, and would advise you also do not try.

In spite of the above problems, I quite liked the shade. Indeed it tugs at your eyes, but not too much, just a little bit. Since we are so used to an array of creamy liners, this one is hard as compared to those buttery ones.

Since the blue is somewhere between light and dark, it takes a while to show up. In the swatch picture below, the lower one is one swipe, whereas top one is three swipes. That is the darkest it can get. Same for the EOTD, this is the darkest this colour gets.

Cons of Maybelline Color Show Crayon Kohl – Ocean Blue:

• Hard texture, tugs and pulls.
• The colour is light, multiple swipes to get visibility.
• Too many glitters (not over the top, but I prefer my pencil liners to be matte).

IMBB Rating:

I rate Maybelline Colorshow Eyeliner 3.5/5 .  You can give this range a try. I am not going to repurchase. I was eyeing the purple one, but if that one turns out to be light, I will be heart broken and the rating for that will deteriorate further. *cry*
