How are you all? I hope you like the daily dose of my reviews 🙂 I hope they are informative and help you in choosing the right products or shades. My mom is suffering from common cold and fever for the past few days and I have to take care of all the daily responsibilities of running a home, this makes me realize how much our mothers do every day without complaining a bit.  Today’s shade is my fifth pick from the “Colorshow” range of Maybelline. I know I only reviewed two of them; but I missed the rest of the two 🙂 Let’s continue with the review.

Product Description:

Intense Fashionable Lip Color.  Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is a fashionable intense lipstick, which comes in chic to vivid shades. Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is highly pigmented giving bold lips. It stays for up to four to five hours.  The creamy texture is not heavy on the lips.  It does not smear or smudge.  It does not settle in line.  As its highly moisturized you don’t need to wear a lip balm.

Packaging:

I don’t know why some find the packaging cheap. Have you ever placed 4 to 5 of these together and look at them? They look so pretty. The simple black and silver bullet body won’t call for your attention, but the shiny colored rim adds to the packaging.  There is also a corresponding color coded sticker at the bottom of the tube. The cap shuts tight with a click and won’t come off by itself.  Overall, the packaging is justified for the price.

My Take on Maybelline Color Show Mauve Power Lipstick:

Shade:  Mauve Power is a slightly milky deep mauve shade without any shimmer or sheen to it.  The color will suit every skin tone, especially fair to medium complexion beauties will rock this shade and the milkiness in it makes it a very wearable shade for everyday.  I don’t wear purples or mauves every day, but I wore the shade even for errands and I really liked it. The shade is on the dark side but neither very bold nor gaudy.

Texture, Pigmentation and Finish: The texture of the lipstick is something you’ll fall for, and this shade being completely shimmer free, it’s extremely creamy smooth, soft and pigmented. The shade goes completely opaque; one swipe deposits 95% of even color on lips, totally an apt shade for pigmented lips. The lipstick doesn’t overly exaggerate flaky lips; neither has it hid it really well, so exfoliating lips beforehand will be a smart step. The lipstick can be layered on for more intensity and it won’t look cakey in two swipes.  The lipstick won’t bleed a bit, but due to the extremely buttery texture, it transfers easily. The lipstick is very hydrating on lips; the formula feels extremely comfortable, without feeling heavy or waxy. The lipstick gives a completely creamy matte finish on lips; it doesn’t have any glossy sheen to it.

Staying Power: The shade lasted on me for 2.5- 3 hours, after that the creamy sheen would start fading and being a dark and pigmented color, it would leave a strong stain which would last for more 1–2 hours. The lipstick won’t survive meals and after eating anything, re-application is needed.

 

Pros of Maybelline Color Show Mauve Power Lipstick:

• A very pretty, wearable, shimmer-free deep mauve shade, true to its name “Mauve Power.”
• Will suit every skin tone.
• The texture is extremely buttery, soft and creamy, glides like a dream on the lips.
• Deposits even color on lips, without being sheer or streaky.
• Won’t settle in fines lines of the lips.
• The shade is extremely pigmented, apt shade for pigmented lips.
• As per the claims, the formula is extremely hydrating and comfortable on lips.
• The finish of the lipstick is semi matte.
• Staying power of 3-4 hours, if we consider the buttery texture, very close but not completely true to the claim of 4-5 hours.

 

Cons of Maybelline Color Show Mauve Power Lipstick:

• Some may find the packaging not too good.
• The lipstick won’t survive meals because of the buttery texture. Otherwise, I find no other con.

Would I Recommend Maybelline Color Show Mauve Power Lipstick?

Yes, sure if you liked the shade in the swatches (the pictures are taken under natural light), you can really opt for this color. And if you’re thinking of trying some dark mauve shades, you should choose this one as it’s also not going to hurt your pocket.
