Maybelline Color Show Nail Paints – 4 Shades Review

Maybelline Color Show Nail Paints

Hi beauties!!!

How are you all? It’s a cool and pleasant day till now, and trust me, it is not at all for work. All you would want to do is curl up in your bed, pull the quilt over your head and sleep till 11, then fix your toasts, brew a cup of coffee, curl up on a chair and read your favorite book. Go out with friends in the evening, some open exhibition kind of place, and come back home with lots of pictures and a goofy expression slapped on your face. Tempting, right? Even I want to do this. Now, let us come back to reality. It is Thursday and we all have demanding jobs, and studies. 🙁

So for the past two days, you saw colorful posts by Cherry, on Maybelline Color Show Nail Paints. Honestly the shades and posts were so cheery that I found myself smiling for no reason. So, I thought of fishing out my own shades, and after sorting out “Mint Mojito” and “Nude Skin”, which had already been reviewed, I brought out these four shades for you:

  1. 402 Blackcurrant Pop
  2. 302 Fantasea Green
  3. 219 Midnight Taupe
  4. 220 Blackout

Mind you, these are not as bright as the shades reviewed earlier, because mainly I got these for painting my toe nails, specially “Midnight Taupe”. But I love all these shades. Let’s begin and take a look at these mini beauties, shall we?

Price/Packaging/Description:

Stay right on trend from your tips to your toes with new Maybelline Color Show. Our gel based formula with color popping pigments, comes in 40 bold, super stylish shades that look great on nails. So go on, mix, match and make the most of color.

Comes at a price of 75 INR for 6 ml. Very, very affordable.

Shelf Life: 36 months. Toooo long. In fact I don’t even remember using any nail paint for so long. Hehehe 😛

Directions for Use: To begin with apply a clear base coat to prevent your nails from yellowing. It also helps your nail color last longer. Paint the first line of nail polish from the centre of your nail starting from the base to the tip. Leave a small space at the base of the nail to get a clean look. Then apply nail color to the rest of the nail.

Packaging: It comes in a cute cylindrical shape, very different from most of the traditional nail paint packaging, that we have seen in the same price range, in other brands. Plus, the black cap with bold Maybelline Color Show heading, and bold and popping colors inside the transparent container, makes it look like an eye candy. Mind you, at this price and beauty, it still doesn’t fail to perform well. Maybelline has come up with quite a way to make us fall in love with these.

My Experience With Maybelline Color Show Nail Paints:

The applicator is a standard one. I did not ever have any problem applying the nail paints with it. No shedding of the brush, thank god for that matter, because I have had horrifying experiences where after applying a perfect coat, I saw a strand from the brush embedded in my nail with the color, or even worse, half of it sticking out from the nail, like a complete eyesore. Also, no brush marks. No such problems here, and I am a happy girl. 😀 😀

The texture is dreamy creamy and just the perfect consistency that you expect from a nail paint. I have used many brands to know this, trust me. Some are so runny that no matter how many times you apply the finish is going to be dark on one side of nail and translucent on the other, while some are so paste like, that the brush leaves prints within a second or two.

O man, this has superb pigmentation, at least most of the shades have it. Out of all these four shades, I have to apply a second coat only in case of “Midnight Taupe”. Even in case of lighter shades like “Nude Skin” and “Blackcurrant Pop”, these are so insanely pigmented that one coat is all that it takes to make your nails go gorgeous.

Staying power is around 4 days, on an average. If you are into daily household work, then it is a different story. But mostly for people like me, who are working on computers and notebooks and once in a while helping mommy dearie 😛 , I shall give you an average of 4 days, give or take a day.

If you ask me, all these features are just amazing for a nail paint that comes from a reputable brand and at such a low price!!

Moving on to the shades: 😀

402 Blackcurrant Pop: It is a very pretty lavender shade. I had bought this and “Nude Skin” together for using as an everyday shade, to office, college and the likes. One coat is all it takes, to get an opaque finish.

219 Midnight Taupe: I had bought this one solely for toe nails application. It is not my favorite of the lot, mostly because of the fact that this is the only Maybelline Color Show, which is a bit runny in texture. Also, you have to give it a double coat to get the desired color. The shade is a muddy plum, mostly on the brown side.

302 Fantasea Green: I can’t stop raving about this shade. It is a dull teal sort of green, which although I had purchased for toe nail application, has become my favorite for hands too. The creamy texture, the one coat opaque application, and the unique shade, all of it makes this a hit for me.

220 Blackout: This one is a no brainer. My sister introduced me to black nail paints, and since then there has to be a staple black for me, along with a nude. This is the most perfect, opaque, and affordable black that I have come across. Love it.

IMBB Rating: I rate these as follows:

  • 402 Blackcurrant Pop: 5/5
  • 219 Midnight Taupe: 3/5
  • 302 Fantasea Green: 6/5 😛
  • 220 Blackout: 5/5

Do I Recommend Maybelline Color Show Nail Paints?

Hell yes ladies! At this price, you surely should get 6 7 shades at least. I am going to pick a yellow and blue one reviewed by Cherry, and one clear one as base coat. Have a nice day!! Cheers!! 😀 😀
