Maybelline Colorsensational Gloss 405 Sugared Honey Review, Swatch

Maybelline Colorsensational Gloss in 405 Sugared Honey

As Per the Website:

SOPHISTICATED shine. LUXURIOUS feel. 12 captivating shades.

Price and Quantity:  Rs. 250 for 0.23 fl. oz. / 6.8 mL

Shades available:

Raspberry Sorbet, Pink Perfection, Sugared Honey, Mocha Glaze, Hooked on Pink, Touch of Toffee, Born With it, Plum Tastic, Sandstone Shimmer, Broadway Bronze, Cranberry Cocktail, Wine all Mine.

Packaging:

It comes in a slender clear plastic tube with a metal screw cap. The cap catches fingerprints easily, which is a pain, but isn’t really a reason not to pick this up! Since the tube is not opaque, you can easily see the gloss inside, which is a good thing. It has a regular doe-foot applicator, which absorbs a lot of product, but also delivers precise application, since it isn’t overtly big.

The shade name and number is written on the gloss tube itself, but it is in such tiny writing, I had to literally hold it up to my nose and peer at it. It is on a tiny sticker on the underside of the tube.

My Take on Maybelline Colorsensational Gloss in 405 Sugared Honey:

I initially bought this gloss because I really liked the look of it at the store. However, when I tried it on at home, it looked different. Not a bad different, but not what I had expected. My sister tried it on, and it looked nicer on her, and now, from a week after I bought it, it became hers. It is her MLBB color, and that’s why she likes it so much! However, I did use it for a week (and occasionally even now  , and thus am in a position to review it.).

This lip gloss is a rosy brown color. It can look pink in strong light as well. It reminds me of Irish Rose by Colorbar. It has minute shimmer particles in it, but they aren’t chunky and are practically invisible on the lips, when worn. It is suited for regular wear, for instance at work, and even for parties (if you are wearing decked up eyes).

For some people, it can be a MLBB color, since it is not a bright pink, but is a mixture of pink and brown.

Pros:

• The Maybelline Colorsensational Gloss in 405 Sugared Honey is reasonably priced.
• The quantity you get is pretty good.
• The gloss is not heavy on the lips, it feels very comfortable.
• The doe-foot applicator is not very big, thus enabling precise application.
• The gloss has a pearl finish, which I like.
• The gloss itself is not sticky, and it goes on very smooth.
• The color is a mix of pink and brown, which will suit many varied skin tones.
• It can easily fit into your handbag and the cap is pretty tight. There is near zero possibility of it leaking in your bag.
• This gloss doesn’t have any taste, which many people prefer.
• The gloss is very pigmented and you do not need many layers of it to get the color to show up on lips.
• The shimmer is not over the top.
• The gloss doesn’t go on patchy, but nice and evenly.
• This gloss does not bleed.
• Maybelline glosses do not carry any availability issues :yahoo:

Cons:

• No ingredients are mentioned anywhere, not on the pack, not on the website.
• The doe-tip applicator, like all other doe-tip applicators, traps a lot of product in the fibers.
• The cap holds fingerprints very easily. I like my cosmetics to be all shiny and fingerprint-free. :haanji:
• I normally don’t mind – infact I borderline like – fragranced lip gloss, especially sweet-smelling ones. However, I’m not too fond of the fragrance of this one. It smells like jam mixed into Sedilix-MD linctus. Not a very nice combination in my opinion.
• It is not moisturizing in the least. Although it doesn’t particularly dry out my lips, it doesn’t moisturize them either.
• Low staying power of 2-3 hours.

Verdict:

These lip glosses are the perfect balance between price and quality. They are pretty decently priced and they perform well. With their amazing pigmentation, okay-ish staying power, comfortable feel and wonderful shades to choose from, you can’t really go wrong with these! Go for these if you are a lip gloss person (or even if you aren’t  )!

I had the same lip gloss!!! .. But somehow it was too sticky for me.. D gloss loved my hair more than my lips… :pigtail: … So I finally disowned it! :methinks:

  4. its a lovely color Sammm.. and ur lips are looking gorgeous but now i am eyeing revlon colorburst LipGlossess :preen: :preen:

    1. Awww… Thank you Rati :))
It is similar to HOP, but HOP has a mauve undertone to it, with fuchsia overtones. HOP is a berry-pink, and not a ‘pink’ pink, whereas this one is a rosy brown color. :haanji:
Also, as you said, this has way more shimmer. Actually, HOP too has minute golden shimmers, but they are not even noticeable. You can see them if you stare at the gloss for a whole minute. :preen: :preen:

  5. great review samantha…. was looking fr a nice pink lipgloss …..u solved my problem…. :puchhi: i already have the rasberrry sorbet one and just love it :yahoo:
