Packaging:

The gloss comes in a plastic tube, but if you look at it from a distance, it looks like glass. The tube looks very classy and almost crystal like, if you inspect it closely. The lid is silver and sturdy. The wand is very cheap, I feel like it will break of if I press it too much.

My Take on Maybelline Colorsensational High Shine Lip Gloss in Captivating Coral:

So, I bought this lip gloss because I was smitten by the model’s lips on the promotional poster. The orange looked so luscious and juicy (creepy!) on her lips. It was an impulse buy, but I don’t regret it one bit. The color isn’t as pigmented as they show on the model, but you could get it close enough if you layer it a couple of times (does not feel heavy at all). This gloss is light enough to be worn to work or to a small get-together and vibrant enough after you layer it a few times for night.

The texture is so smooth and creamy, smoother (and lighter) than the L’Oreal Infallible 8 HR Lip Gloss I reviewed. My lips felt hydrated and soft after applying it. The shine and color was so loud and clean on my lips. I definitely agree with the company’s description: “Lavish lips with a molten hot glaze.” That’s exactly how my lips felt and looked. There’s so much going on in this lip gloss all at once that makes it irresistible. It has a mild fruity scent when you first apply it, but goes away in a few minutes.

The lip gloss is not long lasting; it stays for about 2-3 hours, including snacks. It doesn’t survive meals. The gloss completely disappears after a meal and even after the gloss fades off, my lips stay soft and hydrated all day. The gloss does transfer a lot, I was drinking green tea once and all the gloss transferred to my cup (not cool!), and when I was eating a burger, the gloss started sticking on to the bread. But then all the glosses do that, so I can’t complain much.

I don’t like the wand. I can’t apply the gloss correctly; the wand feels really cheap and weak.

Overall, I really like this lip gloss, its creamy, light, hydrating, and luscious. I could wear it every day, but I really hate the wand, its so thin and cheap looking, I am afraid to put pressure on it. I feel like it would break off.
