Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte Mat 10 Review

One more shade from the Velvet Matte range of Maybelline, no. 10. Read on to know how this shade fared for me.

My Experience with Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte Mat 10

A lot has already been said about the packaging of this new launch by Maybelline, adding my two cents, the matte cap and stubby applicator is smart and handy.

The texture is super smooth on application and glides on the lips like molten butter. Having that said, I would add the pigmentation is slightly on the lower side of the scale. You have to apply 2 layers for minimum if you want to get the shade in full glory. Also people like me with pigmented lips will have to apply minimum of 2 layers to cover the lip pigmentation completely.

The shade as you can see is a simple everyday pink with cool bluish undertones. The shade is definitely not matte as per the claims. I would rather call is a moist lip color. There is enough hydration and creaminess to the shade. There are so many variants of matte in the market right now that there is absolutely no chance of fooling the customers. In my opinion a false claim can totally kill the range.

Why is that, there is a whole range launched with claims of being matte but is a creamy lip color instead? Maybelline is one brand we absolutely love for the huge range and affordable pricing; please do not misguide the customers with false claims.

If you treat this as a creamy range of lip colors there is nothing wrong in it. In fact it has 8 shades of vibrant colors, ideal for the upcoming winter season. I tried blotting it for the matte look but the pigmentation disappears, so there is no point in wearing it as faded stain. The staying power is maximum of 4-5 hours without much food or drinks. It does not survive a full meal and smudges a bit outside the lip lines while snacking.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline Colorsensational Velvet Matte Mat 10?

Repurchase – I don’t think so, I am liking super matte texture these days.
Recommend – yes, if you have dry lips yet want to sport a moist matte bluish pink.
