Hope you are doing great! Today’s review is a lip product from the Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte range. The shade is “Daringly Nude” and the shade number is 655.

My Experience with Maybelline Daringly Nude Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick:

Maybelline introduced a range of matte lipsticks for Fall 2014. Among other beautiful shades, the range consists of 2 nude shades – Nude Embrace and Daringly Nude. Among these, only Daringly Nude was launched in Canada.

Packaging:  The lipstick comes in a packaging similar to the regular Color Sensational lipsticks – silver tube but with a brown translucent cap. The cap fits tightly enough to throw in your bag without worrying. The shade name and number are printed on a sticker at the bottom of the tube, the color of the sticker being the same as the lipstick color.

Color:  “Daringly Nude” is a beautiful nude shade with peachy undertones. It is still light for my medium skin tone and washes me out, but it is one of the better nude shades, with more color, than other nude lipsticks I have come across. I do not prefer to wear it on its own but rather mix it with other darker shades and the results have been awesome!

Texture:  This is not a traditional matte lipstick, but a more modern creamy matte. It is not drying like a regular matte lipstick. This formula is really creamy and glides easily on the lips. This feels very similar to the Rimmel Kate Moss matte lipstick formula.

Pigmentation:  The pigmentation is quite good, but since my lips are pigmented and this is a very light shade, I usually apply two layers to get a full opaque finish.

Scent:  There is a mild sweet scent, but nothing that would bother people sensitive to scents.

Finish:  The finish looks velvety matte with one coat, but if you add additional coats, you can see a very slight sheen. Being a semi-matte finish, it does accentuate dry spots on the lips. It is best to exfoliate your lips before you use this. The lipstick is not drying on the lips but neither does it add any moisture to the lips. So after wearing it for over 5 to 6 hours, I feel the need to apply a lip balm. It is better to apply a thin layer of lip balm on your lips before applying this lipstick.

Longevity:  Lasts for over 5 hours which is quite good. There is no bleeding or feathering. The lipstick fades evenly without looking patchy. Being a creamy formulation, it does transfer slightly, especially if you have more than one layer on.

The first lip swatch is “Daringly Nude” on its own. The second one is “Daringly Nude” mixed with “Siren in Scarlet,” which is a bright blue-based red from the same Maybelline creamy matte collection. These two colors mixed together results in a beautiful medium pink shade which I am really loving!

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline Daringly Nude Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick?

Though I love this range of lipsticks, this particular shade is not for everyone. It is better suited for lighter skin tones. For medium and darker skin-toned beauties, unless you want it to mix with other darker shades and still retain the matte finish, you can safely skip this one!
