My Experience with Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner Ebony Black:
Maybelline Define-A-Line Eyeliner comes in 5 different shades, Ebony Black, Soft Black, Brownish Black, Chestnut Brown and Slate Grey. I picked up the color “Ebony Black”, which is darkest of the black shades available in this collection.
This eyeliner comes in a chic and slender bright green colour pencil with details written in white coloured fonts. It is such a colorful pencil which I own, and I love this bright pop colour for a simple, black kajal pencil. There is a white smudger available at the other end of the pencil, which can be used to create smudged look. This is not a sharpenable pencil but has a twist up mechanism which makes it easy to use.
The shade “Ebony Black” is a jet-black shade and is similar to the Colossal Kajal in shade intensity and texture. This pencil has an amazing pigmentation and colour payoff. It is pretty creamy and applies well, but this doesn’t make it break easily and it stays pretty tough on that part. It glides smoothly on the eyes and works well as an eyeliner, and also as a kajal pencil on the lash line.
The smudger helps to get a smudged lash line look, and also, we can use this eyeliner all over the eyelids and then smudge it to create a simple smoky eye look. It didn’t cause any irritation to my eyes, even when I used it on my lash line. So, I think this will be suitable for sensitive eyes as well.
It stayed for almost 3 hours with the same intensity that I initially applied it with, but after that, it smudged a bit and faded a little, and so I had to reapply it again. I think since it’s designed to create a smudged liner look, it tends to smudge on its own even when we don’t want that. One more concern is that it is not waterproof, and so it may not be suitable for summer and monsoon season.
Overall, I think that this is an average eyeliner. It would have been an above par product if only its staying power was much better.
