Maybelline Diamond Glow by Eye Studio Ocean Blue Review

Maybelline diamond glow by eye studio: 04 ocean blue

If you remember these, Maybelline had come out with 4 or 5 of these beauties . Its been a while and I have been still not completely satisfied with what I have . I bought the copper brown one, Rati has reviewed the lilac one, and again I got the gray pink one, and now this one. I am in a serious blue phase and so I really cant get enough of blue metallic and shimmer quads and trios, if you remember the colorbar one I reviewed last week – the gorgeous “feeling blue” one. 🙂

Now having compared the feeling blue one by colorbar, you would see that the theme is very similar all blues and light blues and one deep blue. But the texture and finish and the quality is way apart.

What I noticed from these diamond glow is that all the five colors, which I think are, copper , lilac, gray pink , ocean blue and the last is aw is wine pink, all of them are so white in nature. It is as if they have mixed color with some white shimmer, and that’s the reason these don’t go opaque or colored but mainly white plus shimmer plus a hint of color. I don’t understand why they could not give us a concentration of color sans the white chalky feel but may be that’s the reason they named it “diamond glow”.
The blues in here are really pretty to look at. I think all of these quads have a basic white shimmer one the first white that you see, for basic use under the eyebrow and also in the tear duct area . Then there is one light blue and another greenish light blue both of which are fantastic to look at, the texture goes on light and smooth and a little white . but still there is no loose shimmer in this one like the first white one, and those shades are both pearl finish. These would look great on the lid paired with any matte black in the outer ‘V’ or ‘C’ and a black liner .

Then there is my favorite deep blue with loads of duochrome shimmer to it,blue shimmer with silvery shine which I absolutely love. The blue is my favorite kind of blue and I love to put it in the crease and outer v/c.

Now coming to the finish, all of these have pearly or shimmery finishes which look very white instead of a concentrated blast of color expect the blue on there. You really need a base for these to show up . The staying power would be horrid without a base and the intensity too.

The wand is of much use I think to go under the lashline like I did or to line where you want to put the color in the crease. I quite like the combination of blue but the texture and finish are too chalky for my liking.

In the EOTD I have used it on Jordana base, lined with elle 18 eye liner, and no mascara and falsies. If you want to go more dramatic, you can add mascara or for lesser minimal look, you can just use one or two shades. I have used all the four because I wanted to depict the use of all the shades in there. 🙂

Last word:
I bought it for the blue in there, otherwise you would have seen many such quads. The pricing was 375 when release and now has gone upto 450.Could some one please ask Maybelline why?

  1. Hi Neha, are you from Chennai? Me too. I have this palette but I hardly use it since I cant wear it to office because of the shimmer. It looks OTT and chalky when I apply on my lids. I don’t know about the other shades.

  2. I guess your lovely EOTD saved the day for this palette…the horrible texture comes through in the pics. I love how you have applied your liner!
