I bought this eye shadow because it was on sale at CVS. It’s a very weird color, but I didn’t care I just bought it because it was cheap. It was like an omg-its-cheap-let-me-get-it kind of a buy. It’s been over a year since I bought it but I hadn’t even looked at it until like yesterday when I was hunting in my vanity case to review something.
Shimmer finish. All day crease proof shadow.
My Take on Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow – Lux Lilac:
This is a very pretty lilac color. It would look very pretty and fresh on fair skin tones. This is NOT for dusky skin tones. This shade is really bright so it would look very loud on dusky skin tone. So it’s useless for me, since I’m on the dusky side, it makes me look like the long lost sister of Nicki Minaj.
They claim that the eye shadow has a shimmer finish, but you really have to shove your face in the mirror to see the shimmer. You can barely see the glitter; there are only a few mince particles of shimmer in the shadow. The eye shadow has a very matte powdery finish. I felt as if I had lilac colored powder on my eyes.
The lasting power isn’t so great. It starts fading within an hour. The pigmentation is good; the color that you see in the pan is the color that goes on your eyes. I didn’t see any fall outs, the shadow stays in place. The shadow doesn’t look cakey after a while like most drugstore brands. But it does not blend well. I tried blending it with a brown color to bring some warmth to my eyes, but the color just fades no matter how much I apply again. This eye shadow is only good if you want to wear it alone.
This eye shadow comes with a sponge tip applicator, but I lost it yesterday when I was trying it out for the review. I think it went under my closet or bed. I don’t remember. Personally I feel this shadow applies better with my finger than the applicator. It doesn’t apply well with a brush; you have to apply it over and over again to get the color on the lids.
