This is my recent drugstore find which I initially did not like because of its poor performance but eventually loved it once I figured out how to wear it. It is an interesting product with multiple usages and is perfect for people who are always in a rush to get ready and barely get time to doll up. My Take on Maybelline Eye Studio Master Smoky Longwearing Shadow-Pencil – Black Smoke:
This is one of the several drugstore eye shadows available in the market but Maybelline products stand out among all because of their performance and variety. This eye shadow is available in 6 different shades and all colors are worth a try.
Packaging: Product comes in a thick pencil form with black outer cover and a plastic cap. The other edge of the pencil has a thick smudge sponge which is meant to blend the product for a smoky eye look. The pencil has a twist up mechanism which prevents wastage of product and also makes it a good on-the-go product.
Texture: It is soft and creamy texture but not over the top buttery; it is very easy to apply and blend. Before I wear my makeup, I apply Maracuja oil around my eyes as part of my skin care regime and that tends to break my makeup at times despite using a good primer underneath but this product did not crease or break especially after I topped it with a green color powder eye shadow.
Color and pigmentation: It is an intense black color eye shadow and the color can be built up with multiple coats. One sweep gives a good color pay off; however, I do recommend waiting for a second or two before using the smudge brush to blend it and do so in minimal time duration possible because once the shadow sets it does not budge at all. If one tries to blend it immediately after application, it spreads and appears patchy; hence, it is better to wait for just a second or two before proceeding with the blending process.
Wear time: When topped with a powder shadow or translucent powder, one can wear it for good 8 to 12 hours.
