Maybelline Fuchsia Ecstasy Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Review

Today, I am reviewing the shade “Fuschia Ecstasy” from the newly-launched Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipsticks. Liquid matte lipsticks seem to be the newest trend in drugstore lipsticks and I had picked up a few shades from this range. So, read on to find out more about this product.

For Best Results:
Step 1. Apply your Maybelline matte liquid color by starting in the center of your upper lip.
Step 2. Work from the center to the outer edges, and then follow the contours of your mouth.
Step 3. Glide the matte liquid color across the entire bottom lip.

My Experience with Maybelline Fuchsia Ecstasy Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid:

Packaging: This liquid lipstick comes in a transparent rectangular tube with a black cap. The packaging is pretty simple yet effective. The cap is a screw-on type and hence there is no danger of it coming off loose. The name of the lipstick appears on a sticker at the bottom.

The applicator sponge is pretty long and flat. It picks up a decent amount of the product. It is easy to use and makes the application precise and quick.

Shade/Pigmentation:  “Fuschia Ecstasy” is a very pretty fuchsia shade. This is a shade which brightens up the face and will suit Indian skin tones.  This lipstick is strongly pigmented and one swipe is enough to cover the lips. There is no clumping of the lipstick if you layer it on.

Texture/Finish:  This is a liquid lipstick and has a creamy texture. It is not very runny and spreads easily on the lips.  This range is advertised as matte, but the lipstick does not dry down completely and remains slightly wet throughout its wear time. It has a pretty glossy finish and I would not call it matte for any reason.

The lipstick feels pretty comfortable and lightweight on the lips and does not feel drying. This particular shade does not highlight any dry patches, but I would still recommend exfoliating lips before application.  Since this is a bright shade, I did notice some feathering. I would recommend using a lip liner.

The lipstick has a faint scent but nothing too overpowering. The good part is that the scent doesn’t stay on for long once applied.

Lasting Power:  Since this lipstick is not truly matte, it does transfer. It lasts on me for around 4-5 hours depending on what I am snacking/drinking.

Pros of Maybelline Fuchsia Ecstasy Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid:

• Lovely fuchsia shade.
•  Creamy texture which glides smoothly on the lips.
• Strong pigmentation.
• No clumping if layered on.
• Does not feel drying on the lips.
• Does not highlight any dry patches.

Cons of Maybelline Fuchsia Ecstasy Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid:

• Does not have a matte finish as advertised.
• Average staying power.
• Slight feathering.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Maybelline Fuchsia Ecstasy Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid?
If you like liquid lipsticks with a glossy sheen, you may try it out, but it is wrong to call it a matte lipstick. I will not repurchase the exact same shade.
