My experience with Maybelline Hyperglossy Liquid Liner – Navy Blue

Last week while I was at the Maybelline counter I spotted this new shade from their hyperglossy liner range and after swatching it on hand I got it immediately as I loved the color. It comes in four other shades, the black one being launched first and this shade is one of the latest additions to the range, I am sure you all must have tried the black one as it is amazing and so budget friendly as well.

The packaging is same as the black one, it comes in a long glossy black bottle in a triangular shape with everything on it written on it in dark blue. The bottle itself is really tiny and has a long handle brush attached to it. The packaging is completely spill proof and travel friendly.

The shade navy blue is a dark ink blue color with a glossy finish. It has some very fine shimmers in it, but they are only visible when the liner is smudged but otherwise they just impart sheen to it. I feel the glossy finish really looks great with colored liners and prevents them from looking flat. The color is not very bright like the other shades from this range, this one is a very wearable dark blue. If you shy away from bright colored liners then this one is perfect and a great change from blacks.

The texture is just right, not too thin or thick and very comfortable to work with. The formula of this shade is not as good as the black one I feel. It tends to look streaky in a single swipe but with 2 – 3 swipes that problem is solved. It dries quickly within 30 seconds. It is nicely pigmented, but I need two swipes to get opaque color pay off.

The long handle is really nice and gives good control in application, the brush applicator is quite thin and gives very precise application in drawing thin or thick lines, it picks up the right amount and I do not need to dip in again and again.

It is water resistant and does not fade upon splashing water, but it is definitely not smudge proof. When smudged with a finger it tends to flakes, so if you have a habit of toughing or rubbing your eyes frequently, then it will flake but that is not a problem for me. It does not come off completely with water, and a makeup remover is required to remove all the last traces of the liner. It stayswell for 7 to 8 hours on my oily eyelids, after then it starts fading from corners. I have swatched it once on left and three times on the right.

The color is absolutely gorgeous and wearable, the quality is great as well and for the price it is an absolute steal.
