Winter season is here and a lip balm is must have in everyone’s vanity. Winter creams, body lotions and lip balms is something that I restock every year during fall, just when winter is about to begin. This year for winter season, I have chosen Maybelline New York lips sport lip balm to nourish my lips with the goodness of a balm. Let’s see how this one fared for me!

My Experience with Maybelline New York Baby Lips Sport Lip Balm – Sun Red:
Knowing that winter season is going to approach shortly, I was on a look out for a good lip balm while shopping in Dubai. I bought this at Boots pharmacy store. I personally like lip balms with a tint of color in it and since they were launched recently, I wanted to try this one. Having tried many lip balms from the Maybelline baby lips range, I was pretty sure that this one too would fare well. It claims to give UVB protection, sweat resistance and moisturizes lips for good 8 hours.
This one is designed specially for summer season when the weather is dry. But as long as it nourishes and moisturizes my lips I wouldn’t mind using it in winter season as well. This is mostly suitable for people who are more in sports and engage themselves in outdoor activities on daily basis. So the name “sports” is apt for the functions it delivers. SPF 20 provides you sun protection and protects you from harmful effects of sun. It also lives up to its claims of being sweat resistant. However it fails in one of it’s claims of moisturizing lips up to 8 hours as it moisturizes my lips only up to 4 to 5 hours maximum and not 8 hours.
Packaging:
It comes in a plastic twistable stick, which makes it easy and convenient to use. When it comes to lip balms, I always prefer the stick packaging than the tub packaging. All the lip balms from this range are color coded with yellow as its base and “Baby Lips Sport” embossed on it with the color of the lip balm. The cap locks and unlocks easily without any trouble.
Shades:
There are about three shades to choose from the Maybelline New York Baby lip range namely “Seas The Blue”, ”Sun Red” and “Pool Pink”. I liked the color “Sun Red” more since I wanted a shade that would deliver more color on my lips and red definitely was the brightest color among the three. The shade “Pool Pink” is also a good option but the shade “Seas the Blue” didn’t sound good to me. I was pretty sure about the color results, as I’ve used many red color lip balms earlier. All the red color lip balms I’ve tried earlier, looked pinkish and not red. That is the same case with this too. It has a tint of red in it but looked more like a pink lip balm.
Staying Power:
This shade is suitable for all kinds of skin tones and would compliment fairer skin tones more. However the color and glossy look starts to fade within sometime leaving a very light pinkish-red stain on lips. When applied on lips it provides deep nourishment and moisturizes the lips well. It doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on lips. The formula is super-light and I don’t feel like I am wearing a lip balm at all. It also provides a nice sheen on the lips making it look a little glossy. People with super dry or flaky lips are sure to get benefited from this kind of formula of a lip balm that offers intense care, moisturization and hydration to the lips. Moreover it makes the lips soft and supple. It has a wonderful fruity smell that smells like a candy.
