My Experience with Maybelline New York The Tone on Tone Eye Shadow Star on Edge:

Packaging: Tone on Tone eye shadow comes in a beautiful sleek black tube with a clear cap. It’s a nice square shaped retractable tube that no need to be Sharpened and it’s a mess-free product as well. I can identify the shade due to its clear cap, but as the bullet doesn’t go inside properly, I have to close the cap very carefully to avoid any damage. Otherwise, it’s a nice travel-friendly affordable product that lasts long as well.

Shade: This range offers four beautiful shades for all skin tones and each shade has dual-tone that can give a nice ombre look. The shade “Star on Edge” has two shades from steel family. One is deep shimmery steel shade that looks gorgeous on eyes, while the other one is a natural shimmery silver shade that looks beautiful as a highlighting shadow on eyes. This is a perfect shade for parties and gives a gorgeous shimmery glow to eyes that is perfect for all skin tones. If you apply it properly, the deeper shade creates a nice line on lash line and the lighter shade brightens up the eye lid. In this way, you don’t need any other shadow. This one stick is enough to create a beautiful look. Also, the shade is well pigmented that requires one to two strokes to get the color on lid. I can easily build up the pigment to layer it up.

Texture and Quality: This stick has soft smooth texture that glides effortlessly on eyes without any tugging. Creamy formula blends smoothly and evenly with an occupied texture. I can even blend the shadow with my finger and also it works well with brush too. I prefer to use my finger and it takes only a few seconds to get the perfect look. Due to its square shape, it’s quite difficult to apply the shadow on small area, like inner corners. It can’t reach to corners easily and I have to use the pointed side. With a single side, I still can apply it on lower lash line. Otherwise, the formula is nice and lightweight as well. Also, it’s a non-sticky, non-patchy shadow.

Maybelline New York The Tone on Tone Eye Shadow Star on Edge Tip

The shadow carries shimmers that give a beautiful shinny shimmery finish. They never look overpowering. Such stubble finely melted shimmers gives a natural look to eyes. But due to its creamy finish, it does crease, especially, if I apply it over a lot of powder base, like compact powder or any powder shadow, then it settles on my crease by the end of the day. But if I apply the shadow individually, then it looks quite pretty and doesn’t crease that much. But, if I touch my eyes, it does transfer too. Wish it settles into a smudgeproof texture that will make it last perfectly.

Staying Power: Now, as a creamy shadow, it stays good around 4-5 hours but after that, it starts to look faded. It looks pretty on my oily lid and shimmers never spread too. Only by the end of the day, it slightly creases and looks faded. Otherwise, it’s easy to remove with a normal wipe and the shimmers get off easily too. It’s better to use a silicon based primer or matte primer underneath the formula.

Overall, I love the formula and the natural shinny finish on eyes. This is perfect for beginners and for those days, when you want to do your makeup quickly and still want a perfect party like glow as well. This shade is so beautiful for parties too and I love it.
