My Experience with Maybelline RD02 Cherry Lip Flush Bitten Lips Lipstick:
The packaging of the lipstick is beautiful. It comes in a rectangular tube wrapped in a clear plastic packaging, which bears the product description, ingredients list, etc. The tube has a mirror finish and it closes with a long plastic cap having three gradient shades similar to that of the lipstick bullet. The cap of the lipstick tube has the brand’s tagline embossed on it.
The base of the tube bears a color-coded sticker showing the darkest shade from all the three gradient shades of the lipstick bullet. The shade number is written on this sticker but there is no shade name written on the packaging. The shade name is “Cherry,” but this name is nowhere mentioned on the lipstick tube. Therefore, I had to get this shade name from the brand’s website. Overall, the packaging is nice and travel friendly. The cap shuts tightly and does not slip off while carrying around.
The shade “Cherry” has three different shades in a single lipstick bullet and that helps to create a perfect gradient effect effortlessly. The bullet contains three shades – N*de Peach, Peachy Coral and Cherry Red. Using this lipstick, one can easily create Korean-style gradient lips. The shade is pretty wearable and can be worn on a daily basis.
It looks pretty natural on the lips. The lipstick has average pigmentation, similar to that of a tinted lip balm. The coverage is semi-opaque and covers pigmented lips partially. The lipstick has a typical, melon-like fragrance that might bother people with sensitive noses, but I personally enjoy this sweet smell of the lipstick. This fragrance fades away within a minute or two.
The texture of the lipstick is super smooth and creamy. I am in love with the texture. It is so smooth and glides on like a dream. It never caused any tugging or pulling of the lips. The lipstick is very creamy and moisturizing, similar to a lip balm. It does not cling to the dry patches of the lips. Even, if you have dry lips, this lipstick keeps the lips moisturized and hydrated. It has a soft sheen that looks really beautiful. It is just a sheer lipstick. So, you really cannot expect high color payoff, but it can be layered on to get semi-opaque coverage and still it does not feel heavy or waxy on the lips.
The application is very smooth because of the creamy consistency of the lipstick. You might have to blend it out more with your fingers to create a smoother gradient. I didn’t blend the lipstick in the lip swatches below and the gradient effect still looks beautiful. Though, my lips stays moisturized with this lipstick for pretty long, but after some 3-4 hours, my lips start to feel dry.
The lasting power is not excellent but definitely good for a lipstick with such a creamy consistency and sheer finish. The lipstick leaves a beautiful stain on the lips that lasts for pretty long even when the glossy sheen of the lipstick has faded away. The color lasts for some 3 hours or so. After that, my lips become slightly dry. Overall, this lipstick is quite a fun product.

- Some may not like the fragrance.
- Could not hide pigmented lips.
- Not very long lasting.
