Maybelline Sapphire Blue Color Sensational Diamond Eye Shadow Review, Swatches, EOTD

Skin type: Oily and sensitive
Skin tone: Medium tanned

Hi, beauties!
Last month, I had reviewed the Maybelline Color Sensational Eyeshadow Palette – Rose Quartz Pink. Today, I am going to review one more variant from this eye shadow range. Since I do not have a lot of blue eyeshadows in my collection, I picked up this palette. Let’s get into the details!

Price:
Rs. 575 for 2.4 g

Product Description:
Mix and layer to create sensual gradation eyes with creamy essence powder. Add vibrant dimension with top coat.

My Experience with Maybelline Sapphire Blue Color Sensational Diamond Eye Shadow:

Packaging: The eyeshadow palette comes in a small cardboard box. All the details are nicely described on the box and there are some helpful instructions also. The actual box is small and has a helpful clear lid which makes it so easy to identify the shade. It has a tiny dual ended sponge applicator which I don’t prefer to use. But the small end works well to apply eye shadows on the inner corners of the eyes. I just love this pretty and travel-friendly packaging.

Shades: This range has four shade options and I have the shade Sapphire Blue. One palette contains five shades which is really good to create different eye looks. It has four normal shades and one glittery top coat shade. All the shades have a steel blue touch in them. Now, let’s talk about the shades individually.

closeup

Shade A: It is a nice white shade with micro light pinkish shimmers. It acts as a highlighting shade. The pigmentation is not so great of this shade as many swipes are required.

Shade B: It is a light sky blue shade which looks gorgeous on the eyes. It acts as a nice base shade and looks fresh during summers. This particular shade is decently pigmented.

Shade C: It’s a steel blue shade with fine sky blue shimmers. It can be used to define the crease and also be used on the outer corners of the eyes. This is another medium pigmented shade which looks quite unique.

Shade D: It is the darkest & matte shade in this palette. It’s a dark gray shade with blue
tone. Or I can call it a deep steel blue shade which can be used on the outer corners of the eyes. I prefer to use this shade as an eye defining shade, but this is a poorly pigmented shade which requires a lot of swipes.

Shade E: This is the shiniest shade. It is a gorgeous sky blue shade with lots of visible silver & sky blue glitters. It’s a top-coat shade which gives a nice 3D effect to my eyes. I find it to be less pigmented and it requires many swipes too. But it’s a fresh shade for summers.

Quality and texture: The texture is soft and smooth, and feels light on the eyes. The shades are easy to blend and never look patchy or chalky. The fine texture looks natural, but it is a shimmery palette which is not a cup of everyone’s tea. Shade E is extremely glittery which may not be a choice of matte lovers, but I absolutely love the glittery shiny effect it imparts.

This palette is not good as far as the pigmentation is concerned. Three of the shades are really less pigmented and the formula is not waterproof either. Few shades give some fall out during application, especially the glittery top coat shade, as it contains noticeable glitters.

instructions

Staying power: The shadows stay on my eyes for almost 5-6 hours but they do vanish from the outer corners of my eyes and that area begins to appear blank. But the shadows do not appear messy and do not crease. It is quite hard to remove the glitter without an oil based makeup remover, though.

applicator

Overall: I like the ‘Rose Quartz Pink’ palette more. This blue palette is not very pigmented. As a “Sapphire Blue” palette, I feel, it should have had at least one deep blue shadow also. There is no shade like ‘Sapphire’. But overall, these shades are quite unique for me.

    1. Thank you Disha 🙂 and yeah it is totally a steel blue palette but sapphire is a gorgeous shade..

  1. CHAYANTI, “I am falling for the stars in your eyes” Mind blowing EOTD ! lovely chayanti…although the one disappointing product in your EOTD, is your mascara but I still think I cannot take my eyes off your EOTD. Review also deserves a lot of credits and now that sort of complete package deserves an applause 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Rama. You always make me happy. Yeah this mascara is just so irritating. This is the Maybelline Barbie mascara which clumps a lot and it goes into my eyes badly so I had stopped the application.

  2. No problem, pleasure is mine, glad I make you Chayanti 🙂 Keep the sparkling EOTD’s coming 🙂 Next time avoid using it in your EOTD, my humble suggestion and I too shall stay away from that mascara :/
