My experience with Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick – Siren in Scarlet:
Maybelline came out with a range of matte lipsticks for Fall 2014. The range consists of 10 beautiful shades introduced in the U.S., out of which 8 were introduced in Canada.
The lipstick comes in a packaging similar to their regular Color Sensational lipsticks – silver tube but with a brown translucent cap. The cap fits snugly enough to carry it in your bag without worrying. The shade name and number are printed on a sticker at the bottom of the tube, the color of the sticker being the same as the lipstick color.
‘Siren in Scarlet’ is a beautiful blue based red which would look good on everyone and make your teeth appear whiter!
As the name suggests, this is not a true matte lipstick, but a creamy matte. It is not drying like you might expect from a regular matte lipstick. This formula is really creamy and glides easily on the lips. This feels very similar to the Rimmel Kate Moss Matte lipstick formula, which, as many would agree, is an awesome formulation!
The pigmentation is absolutely amazing. One swipe results in full opaque color.
There is a mild sweet scent, but nothing over the top.
The finish looks velvety matte with one coat, but if you add additional coats, you can see a very slight sheen. Being a semi-matte finish, it does accentuate dry spots on the lips. It is best to exfoliate your lips before you use this. The lipstick is not drying on the lips but neither does it add any moisture to the lips. So after wearing it for over 5 to 6 hours, I feel the need to apply a lip balm. It is better to apply a thin layer of lip balm on your lips before applying this lipstick.
Lasts for over 6 hours which is pretty impressive. There is no bleeding or feathering. The lipstick fades evenly without looking patchy. Being a creamy formulation, it does transfer slightly, especially if you have more than one layer on.
Pros of Maybelline Siren in Scarlet Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick:
Beautiful blue based red which would suit all skin tones
Creamy formulation with a velvety semi-matte finish
Good lasting power
Does not dry out lips
Travel friendly and color coded packaging
Does not bleed or feather
Cons of Maybelline Siren in Scarlet Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick:
Accentuates dry spots on the lips
Recommendation on Maybelline Siren in Scarlet Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick:
Maybelline has done an excellent job with this creamy matte formula. Siren in Scarlet is one of the must try shades in this range, according to me, being a beautiful red which does not bleed and lasts for a very long time on your lips. Do check it out when you get a chance.
