Maybelline recently launched their Super Stay 24 Lip Color range in India and I picked up two shades from this range. I have already reviewed the shade Keep Up the Flame, and today I am sharing my views about the shade Constantly Cabernet. Let’s get into the review.

How to Use:
Step 1. Apply liquid lip color to clean, bare lips.
Step 2. Allow two minutes to dry, then apply the ultra-conditioning balm to seal in moisture.
Step 3. Reapply balm as needed.
Step 4. Remove with an oil-based makeup remover.

My Experience with Maybelline Super Stay 24 Lip Color Constantly Cabernet:

Packaging:
The lip color comes in a white dual-ended tube. One side of this tube is white while the other is color-coded. I can open both the sides smoothly. The color-coded side contains the liquid lip color and white side has a clear balm. I like this compact packaging and the products never leak. It is very easy to carry around. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the tube. It comes with a very nice applicator that evenly spreads the color on the lips. The brush is of good quality and you can easily line your lips with a steady hand.

Shade and Pigmentation:
The shade ‘Constantly Cabernet’ is described as a dark dusky mauve shade and it looks really bold on me. I have medium skin tone and this shade looks like a dark plum toned mauve with a neutral tone on me. In short, this shade looks stunning on me. It has turned out to be a little lighter in the pictures, but it is a vampy shade in person. Hence, I would say, this shade is not everyone’s cup of tea. I personally love it, though. It is very well pigmented and I hardly need two swipes for the perfect color payoff. Since this is a matte and dark shade, you need to be careful during application.

Texture and Quality:
It is a 2-in-1 lip color which contains one liquid lipstick and one lip balm. I need to apply the liquid lipstick quick and then I need to apply the balm over it. The liquid lip color has a smooth texture that glides easily on the lips without any tugging and the texture spreads easily on the lips. I need to layer the color twice to get that perfect texture on my lips. But, excess layering will make the product heavy and patchy.

It is too sticky in nature, so don’t touch your lips, otherwise it will peel off from the lips. You must wait until it dries out properly. After 1-2 minutes, it settles down to a perfect matte finish and feels very dry on the lips. This is why you must apply the balm on top of the matte shade. When the color dries out completely and settles down to a perfect, non-transferable and matte texture, it doesn’t smudge at all even with the balm. It stays perfectly without creating any mess. It is a totally waterproof lip color, but I can’t apply it without the balm. The lip color highlights lip flaws and fine lines and makes the lips feel chapped if I do not top it up with the balm.

This lip balm provides the desired hydration to lips and makes lips softer. It actually reduces lip dryness and provides a glossy shine. It generally doesn’t settle into the fine lines and never creases, but if you apply excess product, the product might bleed from the inner corners. In fact, it may even transfer to your teeth.

Staying Power:
Maybelline claims that this is a 24-hour lip color and this claim is almost true. It is a super long-lasting lip color that stays for around 15-16 hours on my lips. I have never work this lipstick for 24 hours you do get a perfect layer of color that does not budge. A very thin or a very thick layer of the color may make the color disappear, though. This lip color + balm duo can survive any kind of food. I need not reapply the color after a meal but I do apply the balm after a few hours for extra hydration. Once the balm is gone from the lips, the color starts to flake off and then the lips look odd.

Removal of this lip color is quite a problem. It is so hard to remove this color completely as it takes forever. Removing it with a normal wipe is impossible. Even a good creamy makeup remover takes time. I have recently noticed that a body butter removes it easily. I just need to apply it, keep it on for around 2-3 minutes and then remove with a wipe. This way, the color comes off easily.

Overall:
Overall I really love to try out such bold shade. This shade is perfect for parties as it is bold and stays for a long time. But, you need to be careful during application.

⦁ Color starts to flake off without the balm.
⦁ Very difficult to remove.
