After the Superstay lipstick Maybelline came up with the ‘Superstay’ glosses. Maybelline is every girl’s favorite brand and pocket-friendly too. And you know it was a tough job for me to judge the product and bring my honest review to you, so that you don’t waste your money on worthless makeup. So here’s my final verdict on the product. Read on.

Product Details: Meet the first 10 hour stain gloss. This shine enhancing formula provides a lightweight layer of lasting color that won’t dry out.

Shades Available: The stain glosses are available in 10 shades.

Price: INR 525. But I got it for Rs.399

Packaging: The stain comes in an opaque white rounded gloss bottle, with a color coded twist- off cap in which the applicator is attached. The applicator is like those L’Oreal stains, tear drop like shaped with a loop in between which soaks the excessive product. I have a love-hate relationship with the applicator, where as the applicator picks the right amount of product to apply the color in one go, but it’ll be a tough job to apply the stain perfectly and neatly with it especially for those have thin lips. I don’t know, this doesn’t happen to me with the L’Oreal stain applicator, because they have better quality applicators than these stains. The L’Oreal ones are fluffier and have a pointed tip; this one is small and has a slightly rounded tip, which makes the application a little difficult near the edges of lips.

My Take on Maybelline Superstay 10 Hour Stain Gloss- Fresh Fuchsia

This is a hybrid product like you can guess by the name, it’s a stain and a gloss too,  this leans more towards staining than being glossy and moisturizing. The shade Fresh Fuchsia is a deep berry toned rich shade of Magenta or Fuchsia. It would appear even darker on the lips. The shade will suit almost every skin tone, but not for everyday wear, it can be worn on parties. The stain has got very nice yummy bubblegum kind of smell to it; I don’t think it should bother sensitive noses.

The formula of the stain is very creamy and slightly wet/ water based kind, they feel like liquid lip color, the wet and glossy kind of feel can be felt on lips for 45- 50 mins only, but if you have applied more than one layer, then the waxy or glossy feeling will stay for an hour. The gloss glides on really very easily on lips. The gloss is moisturizing and little transferable in the initial 1 hour, after that the color is gone only, a strong stain is left behind. The gloss doesn’t become cakey when layered; I think it works even better when applied in more than one layer. The gloss in it doesn’t let the product unbearably drying; the hydrating part is nice but not the best. The color is very bright, dark and rich and very decently pigmented being from the stain and gloss family.

Staying Power: Yes, this part was really difficult for me to explain. On the lips the gloss part is not really long lasting may be for an hour or two, but the stain stays longer with you if you don’t eat or drink anything for ten hours or at least 5 hours. It’s not really waterproof and the glossiness fades away while eating or drinking. The whole stain and gloss thing goes off when you have a meal, after that and uneven blotchy marks of stain remains on the lips, which looks very unpleasant. The equation of this gloss is like, no eating no drinking = the stain will stay evenly on lips for long hours LOL. Whenever you’ll swatch it in hand the stain mark will remains all day long, even if you rub it with soap water.

• Very rich, vibrant color if you’re someone who always opts for darker shades, especially our moms and aunts.
• Nice creamy, glossy texture goes easily on lips with the applicator.
• A combination of gloss and stain.
• Glides very easily on lips.
• Hydration is good; the stain is not very drying.
• Decent pigmentation.
• Applicator is good for full lips.

Cons of Maybelline Superstay 10 Hour Stain Gloss – Fresh Fuchsia

• Will become blotchy & fades unevenly late on the lips.
• Will not survives for longer hours if you have meal or drink.
• The glossiness doesn’t stay for longer and transfers too.
• The stain will leave a color mark on your hand which will last whole day.
• Availability in India.
• Those with thin lips will have a problem to apply it precisely with the applicator, applying it perfectly will be really time consuming.

Recommendation: If you are a person who always go for n*de, neutral lip color, this product is definitely not for you. All the colors in this range are rich and vibrant and I’ll recommend this product to everyone. The texture and pigmentation of it will make you want to try this once. I hope you’ll not mind reapplying it after meals.

For the staying power of the gloss and the stain which doesn’t last evenly on lips, I would give this product only 3/5.
